Hi All,

I am interested to know if anyone has received a genuine benefit from a gold training aid. I am not talking about launch monitors or Swingbyte type tools but more things you strap to yourself or the club, a club that is just for practice or grip, you know the sort of thing.

If so what is your training aid, do you still use it and what does it do for you.

Thanks

Alex

I got given something called "my golf sp" http://www.myspgolf.co.uk/

While i dont use it every time at the range, it does help, especially on wedge shots where you use the bands near your elbows to keep a V. In normal mode, it has helped me with my backswing arc and follow through.

i'd recommend the swingyde or one of it's half price ebay equivalents. i have one attached to one of those weighted practice swing clubs (about 2 foot long) so that i can work on being on plane inside the house.

without smashing the light fittings which happened when i tried with a full length club.

Any use of a training aid tends to help - because it me actually practicing.

Swingyde has been the most obvious one. But the Momentus Heavy Iron seemed to be effective.

4 Tees are my best aid for putting - swing through them, or to them!

I have training aids that help with swing wise and fitness wise, and over the years have bought a fair amount of them, The Leaderboard is great for lower body workout but great to resist against your right leg whilst coiling, I do Aimpoint and have one or two things for my putting/break reading, I use Aimpoint Swinkey golfers tool kit multi purpose aid and got Aimpoint Express PLG. I'm going thru some swing changes at present and eradicate some flaws with take away and impact position and get both body and arms in sync, which I got the golf swing shirt to help on that. Tour tempo app is great for rhythm and timing. There are a lot of aids available but what helps me won't nescessarily help you.

Not looking for help although the Swingyde is something that has come up a lot here and was the reason I started this post. This was purely an interest post and is kinda research for another post I may do some time.

i also had decent results using the tour tempo app though haven't used it for quite a while.

also quite expensive for what it is. you could probably use a metronome app of some description that would do the same job

Swingyde for me. It has help me shorten the swing. Used to go way past parallel with all my clubs, now I'm stopping at parallel with most clubs just need to use it now with the longer clubs. With the shorter clubs I am now seeing a better consistency and also a different shot shape and distance.

Over 45 years ago the pro i had lessons with used a joiners rule, this was about a meter in length and had a hinge in the middle,he used it for our stance, hinge angle of our wrists, for our putting to get the v right in fact i can think of a dozen things, mind you he also used it to crack you on the legs if you posture was wrong, then stick it down the back of your pants so it ran up your spine, happy days!!!!!!

There are so many questions...... :)

Yeah had good results with one of those putting mirrors that has magnetic posts either side to keep you swinging along the line.

I also had trouble with bending my left wrist back at the top of my backswing and no matter what I did I couldn't stop myself doing it. I eventually got one of those gloves with a bit of plastic in the back which holds the wrist straight, that really helped, started hitting about 20 shots with that, then took it off and bingo, no wrist bend.
