I was checking our joint account last night, just to make sure everything was ok and I noticed a change in our energy charge. That's bloomin' odd I thought. So I scrolled back to see if I could see when this change happened. June apparently.....and they've only gone and chucked in £95 as well. So....at the moment we are paying.....£47 per month for Gaz and Leccy.

Who is this incredibly efficient company?

Scottish Power !!!! :thup::thup:

Hey - you want to see the new (HQ I assume) offices they are putting up at Charing Cross in Glasgow :)

...as far as the Gaz and Leccy thing - honestly - what infantile stuff. Reminds me of when my children were little I made up stories about two dinosaurs (as they both loved dinosaurs) who I called Tyro and Stiggy (Stiggy being a stegosaurus and Tyro being a tyrannosaurus rex) because the names amused them and were easy to remember. But they were 3-5yr olds.

Anyway...I also uses SP - and am happy with their pricing. And like you they recently cut my monthly payment from £120 to £66 (I had also a few months earlier asked for £300 back from them as I was way in credit with them. No problems. Money stuck in my bank account within days)

I recently changed to Sainsbury's and no problems to report so far .
But recently I've had a few forum whippersnappers attempting unsuccessfully :smirk: to nick my Leccy money.

Recently changed to the co op from British Gas, HID changed it. Anyway it is cheaper but has been a right faff around getting things sorted.

And there is another reason we have never, and are highly unlikely to, change suppliers. We switched to Co-Op Banking a few years ago, I got fed up of everything being owned by foreign company's, but I'm not messing with energy supplies, especially as we seem to be getting on so well with ours.. I'm sounding like an advert.

Another happy customer of Scottish Power, recently dropped their monthly charge to tie up with what we had used.

Seems their common practice now - they were getting hammered by the regulator for letting your credit balance build up to a large amount without telling you. Clearly now being proactive in adjusting monthly payments to reflect usage and current credit balance, of course they have to be careful to not wipe it out and/or reduce monthly payments to a level lower than that required to support increased usage over the colder months.

Don't really see what is so great about only billing you for what you use. Isn't that what we should demand anyway?

I just get quarterly bills, based on meter readings, and pay what I owe. Sod giving them a nice credit balance to sit on.

Scottish Power are incompetent and completely unable to send me a bill bearing any relation to reality.

If they've got your bill right just be happy 'cos it's a miracle.

Can tell you are impressed with them :p

I have to phone them every time they send me a bill. We're currently having weekly calls due to their inability to sort out the latest fiasco (which is a doozy even by their standards). Invariably, I have a better understanding of the issues than the people I am speaking with.

I swapped from British Gas to Sainsbury's (effectively the same thing) a few months ago saving over £300 per year. Mind you, the saving will be wiped out by the running cost of the hot tub we had installed.

I just pay a fixed monthly amount that I've agreed with them, read my meters every so often and submit them on-line; and on a fairly regular basis they look at what I am using and adjust my monthly payment accordingly. Nothing much to go wrong.

Interesting thread and good timing as we were on a fixed Eon gas and leccy tariff as part of the new house build. The two years up next month and so on the look out for good deals and good customer service. SP seem to be making a good case and will check them out at home later

My latest statement from Scottish Power (produced after I complained and forced them to recalculate) has me > £600 in credit.

They've informed me that they estimate my energy costs over the next year will be just over £1000. And yet they have also increased my direct debit to £354/month!!

Incompetent doesn't even begin to describe them!

More or less near the reasons why I will never use them or any of their 'partners in crime'...
