Gas or Charcoal

I'm going to be purchasing a new barbecue in the VERY near future and I'm trying to decide whether or not to go down the gas route.

while I appreciate the convenience of a gas barbecue I've always argued the case for the traditional charcoal grilled burgers.

Just wondering everyones thoughts so I've added a poll, you never know it could influence my purchase

Charcoal certainly gives the food a unique taste but it is just so inconvenient. With a gas barbecue I go out and cook on it most evenings when the weather is nice so gets used far more often. If I had a charcoal barbecue I would not use it anywhere near as much.

Can't vote on this. Hate BBQ's ( I know I know miserable old git ) We have a hitachi as my wife likes to call it! I wish it was, to go with the Honda

Gas is cheating, but as Greg says, is A LOT more convenient.

don't own a bbq anymore, but if I decided to get one it would be gas. So much cleaner with instant heat.

Gas all the way, whats the point in eating burnt smokey food. BBQ is a waste of good food for me.

More control with gas. Tried charcoal in the past, just end up with an inferno and crispy blackened burgers!

Why bother. If you have a gas hob in the house, what is the difference. Seems a waste of time when there are loads of flies attracted in the summer.

But if you like it , carry on.
