Hi folks just after a little bit of advice, I'm thinking of buying a gps watch, have been looking at these 2 as they are in the simalair price range and seem to have the same features! Can anybody give me some advice to which is best, pro cons etc!

skycaddie is more accurate as the courses are walked by skycaddie, I find the skycaddie watch 'moves on' quicker to the next hole plus I like the great big number showing centre and the 2 smaller numbers are Front and middle. Skycaddie also tracks your pedometer and has a couple of other additions I've not tried yet.

Garmin S1 for the price does a very good job, its about £40 cheaper and if you dont mind it being out by approx 3-8 yds sometimes (145yds or 153yds makes a difference to me in club selection) then its a very good piece of technology.

Both are waterproof, but the skycaddie is a bit chunkier which I dont like, however I strap it on my caddie car or bag, never my wrist so makes no difference to me.

Neither have subs, but an option with Skycaddie is to take subs and use their online stats etc etc

hope that helps and remember, its purely my opinion.

Thanks for your opinion I would be wearing it on my wrist, so maybe garmin s1 might suit better, although I don't like that the garmin maybe out on yardage!!

Do you have to pay a subscription on the sky caddie, I've heard a few people saying this!

I have the S1. It's a great bit of kit. I've never had a problem with the distances myself. My usual playing partner uses a laser rangefinder and the s1 is never more than a yard or so different. The battery life is'nt great and I recharge it after each round. It would probably struggle to last 36 holes. Never used the skycaddie so can't comment.

Never used a skycaddie but I've got a garmin, albeit it's the s2, and never had a problem with accuracy. When I got it I tested it against the course markers and it was extremely accurate. If you only want front middle back I don't think you would go wrong with either going by the reviews for them.

I have an S1 and on my home course it's accurate to both the course markers and FCs measuring devices. The battery definitely wouldn't last 36 holes though.

You can just about get 36 holes out of an S1 if you turn off the GPS as soon as you complete the last hole of the first round and don't leave too much of a gap between rounds, say more than a couple of days. After two-and-a-half years of use, the strap broke on mine. As it's integral you can't replace it. Garmin have offered a replacement at a reduced price of about 60 quid. You might want to find a GPS watch with a replaceable strap.

I use the S1. Find it excellent. As mentioned above battery is a downside, if it could last about an hour longer it would cover 36 holes for most people. Depending on pace of play you'd struggle for 36 at present

I had an S1 for two years.
It was a tremendous aid.
Then the strap broke - it's an all in one casing.
It had a one year guarantee.
The watch had reduced from £160 to £120.
Garmin wanted £65 plus I pay postage both ways.
I managed to get the original price refund from Amazon.
I then bought a GolfBuddy WT3 with two year guarantee with replaceable strap.
Does the job with hazards included but..... it's a clunker of a size.
It looks like I've been tagged.
The new WT4 is ultra thin :(
