so i have a problem between my pw and sw.

about 80-100 yards, so what are my options|?(all mixuno stuff atm) pw is mx200 and sw is a faldo blade 56degree

thanks in advance

Phil

You've a 45 degree wedge and a 56 degree sand iron so I would choose to either get a 50 or 51 degree gap wedge to split the yardage gap

or

get rid of the 56 and set up with a 52 and 58. The 58 is useful as it can be sand iron or lob wedge (in the right hands! ;)) especially if you think a 4 wedge set up is overkill.

Depending on how far you hit a wedge, myself i use a 54 degree wedge you might be a 52.The only way you would truly know is get a demo club and go on the range and measure. The other option is a 3/4 wedge.

any particular brand? thinking of a mx series wedges try and get a 52 and 58. the mx should be fairly easily swung if it is anything like my mx200 pw.

Used my new 60 deg wedge for the first time today. Great fun to be able to lob it so steeply and was really good in the sand when I squeezed in a bit of bunker practice.

Philm, what club do you hit from 50-80 yds?

my wee 56degree mizuno faldo jobbie.

why you ask boss? any suggestions? im lost, should i buy a 50degree wedge?

Phil

The reason I ask is you cant keep buying clubs to hit the ball a certain distance for you.
With a bit of practice, you should be able to play a wee wedge for those distances that are out of range for youe SW

I would advise you to practice hitting your PW 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 yds.

2 wedges are plenty if you can use them properly.
Just my opinion of course

sounds good ill happily take that onboard. maybe forget about a gap wedge then and try and better myself with what ive got in the PW.

Sound advice (as always) from Bob.
I carry a PW, GW and SW but really could do with leaving the GW at home for the amount of times I actually use it.
I tend to use my PW for everything apart from greenside bunker shots when I will obviously use my SW.
Only time I tend to use my GW is if I have a fluffy lie close to the green where I think I might either get a "flier" with my PW or "flub" my SW (I don't like using my SW off of grass for some reason).

found a cleveland cg10 for 20 quid in my local american golf 52degrees so i went ahead and bought it.

enjoying using it so far,

just need the summer to hurry up and arrive! lol

I couldn't be bothered with the whole GW thing until I upgraded my irons from a 1988 set to a 2005 set in 2006.
I bought a 52 degree Taylor Made wedge and it's very good.
The thing I find with wedges are they feel very different. I find the TM one kind of "heavy" and my Vokey SW the opposite.
Try a few and see which feels right to you.

Personally, I'd go for a 52 in your position and see how you go. If you can hit a full shot approximately xx yards, and learn to hit an easy (3/4) one yy yards, you'll never be off for distance by much.

I can do 80/90/100/110 easily with one of my 3 wedges. Anything more precise is wasted on me as I'm more likely to be wide than long/short.
