Gap in the top of my bag

I have driver 230 carry ish.

Xhot2 5w, 200 carry, 210-215 total.

Then my next longest club is a 5i, 175 yard carry.

If I am faced with a shot 180 carry for example I'm currently choking down on the 5w and using a shoulder height swing this has been fairly consistent until late when it has become shoddy and inconsistent.

What loft would my 5w be, 17 or 18 degrees?

What should I look to plus the gap between that and the 5i, I was thinking a 7w, or hybrid, or maybe a 4i from a improver set (so its easier to use). I've tried hybrids in the past (RBZ when stage1) and never really liked it but I think Im a better player nowadays. Need to be stiff shaft to match my woods.

Any suggestions please? What loft should I be looking at to fill the gap?

I believe the xhot2 5 wood is 19 degrees.

I have a RBZ stage 2 22 degree hybrid and absolutely love it, I've tried it against the new m2 and still preferred the RBZ.

What loft is your 5 iron? I like having an hybrid in the bag as it is easy to launch and good out of the rough. I have recently replaced my 3 hybrid with a driving iron as I was hooking it quite a bit.

Look for a five hybrid. makes this length of shot much easier.

I have a 4 and 5 hybrid and they have been the best purchases I've made in years. simply will not be leaving my bag.

My 5i is 26 degrees according to the Titliest website.
So a 22 degrees hybrid seems to be the club. I'm at Left Handed Golf this Thursday so will look to try some there.

I'd go the Hybrid route to be honest. If you have access to technology, choose a club/loft that fills the gap - could be anywhere from 19 to 24 degrees depending on how your swing performs.

It's more about how far clubs go rather than the loft on the bottom, especially in longer clubs.
X2 Hot 5 wood is pretty long in 5 wood circles, even though it's a few years old.
7 woods tend to be 21° - you might not find a huge gap between 5 and 7, possibly not enough to warrant having both.
I would guess a 22/23° hybrid would fit but, as I said earlier, you need to be sure of the gaps

I picked up a '22* Macgregor DX' hybrid off of eBay for a miserly 14 quid, apart from my putter it's probably the most used club in my bag...

Best loose change I've ever spent...

If going down the 4i route I would definitely get one to match your existing irons.

However a 4h 22 should be a better solution; doesn't need to match anything and it's just down to finding one that works for you. I have both burner std reg shaft (v similar to the rbz in head shape) and the square headed R1 TP with stiff heavy shaft...they get cycled through the bag each year (and there's even a 4i in the bag too at the moment after the recent dry conditions).

It really is a case of finding something you are comfortable with.

So I popped into Left Handed Golf today with a view to trying out the Epic and M1/2 hybrids. Well I did try them out but I also hit a xhot2 *22 along with a Pin i25 *22. Nothing could separate them, almost all bang on 185 carry & 200 ish roll out.

The difference was the price, TM £129, Epic still +£150, i25 £45!!! I know it's a few years old but this club is brand new, regular shaft and every bit as consistent as the newer clubs.

Bargain :)

I have a #4 hybrid with adjustable loft for sale £30 + £12 P&P
Condition 8.5/10 Stiff diamana shaft / Nike Vapor Flex Hybrid
So you can fiddle lofts to fit your gap.
I had it in the bag for exactly same reason.
