Evening all,
Following on from my rant the yesterday i had a chat with the old man tonight as we normally play with the same four guys every week.....
We dissected my round on sunday and even though i wasnt i great humour afterwards i could see there were certain areas that i could improve.....Putting for one.....
We leave our fair share short and have decided that when we play in future this is how it will go......
For every foot you leave your ball short of the hole it will cost 10 cents but it'll start at 2 ft (20 cents) as if you've got it to a foot then in my eyes its a good putt....
So it should make things a bit more fun and a little more less serious which in turn may make me relax a little and not take things so competitively....Here's hoping :D :D

Do you play any small wager games with playing partners?

Sometimes. When I joined my first club, the captain used to fine players (joining him in a 4ball) 20p per putt they left short. He got so fed up with me still leaving them short, he put it up to 50p..... :)

In fairness, if it was within the leather, you could do double or quits on the next one.

My Dad made me realise the folly of short putts when he used to state, after I left a putt 3 feet short, "You could have hit that ball another 6 feet and still be as close as you are now"

Sad to say, I think of this when I still leave them short at times.

I'd like to see him try to collect his "fines".
At my club he'd be the only captain in history that couldn't get a game.

On our 18th hole there are supposed fines for going in one of the bunkers &/or the pond beside the green. Only new members and visitors put money in the box, as the rest of figure that we pay enough in sub's to excuse ourselves any further payments.

Our seniors section collects a 50p fine for different "offences". Currently it is for missing one of the short holes. Other times it for getting in bunkers or hedges. Local charities benefit and all members willingly contribute.

Three friends and I go away for a long weekend of beer and golf once a year and we have £1 fines to add money to the kitty for more beer that evening:

Not hitting the tee shot past the ladies tee
Temper tantrum after hitting a bad shot including swearing
Your ball hitting any building, buggies, people or animals
Using your phone to talk or text
Time wasting
Wearing Pink

Needless to say, with the exception of the last one we do accumilate a fair amount of beer money :)

we always play 50p each closest to the pin on par 3's, any wholes where we dont hit the green the fund rolls to the next one, at the end of the round if the fund is unclaimed it rolls to the following week.

one group ive played in had a strange one: Anyone not making the ladies tee must play every shot on that hole with he trousers and pants around he's ankles, this included rain, snow, gales, puts, drives chips. (lucky im a big hitter) This come to ahead at a recent society when a guy didnt make it past the ladies tee on the 18th. Poor sod had to put out on the 18th with he's cacks down. Lucky enough the football was on so club house was empty
