Birthday coming up soon & being asked if there is anything golf related I'd like - I've been toying with getting Game Golf but am undecided. I've read the threads here but was wondering if people thought it worth the money?

  • Chipping - seen claims this now 'resolved' as median for clubs over time eliminates these or is this still a problem or do people use a different 'chipping' tag?
  • GPS accuracy - can it really be club out?
  • penalty shots - can this be managed during the round or always post editing?
  • Out of bounds shots - as above, during or after?
  • durabilty - some reviews say the belt clip breaks easily?
  • anybodys courses poorly mapped making editing shots difficult?
  • simply, would you recommend it? Has it helped you in any way?

Sorry for the list - I am tempted by it, but don't want to unnecessarily get it as I've other options (5 wood / hybrid to fill a gap).

Thanks!

Depending on the course you play and wind conditions the exact yardage you hit each club will vary depending on calm, into or down wind so you will really have more than 1 distance with each club. GameGolf helps identify these distances for you.

I've not noticed any differences with yardages.

All editing needs to be completed after the round.

The tiny plastic cover for the USB cable connection has snapped on mine but makes no difference to use.

There are a couple of slight course alterations that I need to report and haven't as they are minimal and don't make a huge difference.

At this price I would say yes go for it.

I enjoy the information I get from it and enjoy using it and tagging is now second nature.

Worth every single penny. It's brilliant.

The chipping issues was never an issue. It was just people that don't listen that said it was an issue.

Editing after a round is good fun, I love reliving my round, adding penalty shots etc is very easy, and their customer service for editing rounds etc is second to none!

I'm only 4 rounds in but think it is great piece of kit and worth the money.
Editing be it adding penalty shots or change of mind after tagging is very easy.

I've just ordered one for my birthday and requested my course to be mapped today and they'd done it in three hours. I got mine to be able to give my coach more information about what i do when i play as she cannot figure out why with my swing and short game im still off 23... Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for the replies - I think I'll bite the bullet and go for it.

Just a final quick query:

...this is for the tags only and to used with a phone. It's certainly cheaper, I'm assuming just as effective?

the concern with just the tags and phone would be battery life with gps constantly on? and possible issues raised over phone use depending on club rules etc.

You can't use the phone version in competitions I'm afraid. Did you get a foremost voucher in GM? I ordered mine through them and got it for 140 so a fiver less than Sports Direct. Mine arrives tomorrow. Good luck with it :)

if not I have mine here unused and about to expire at the end of the month

Thanks to both of you, now coded up and item sitting in the basket ready to go!

I've yet to buy it. I did buy it on Ebay but the guy messed me around for ages on it and got a refund. Still using the app, and probably will for the rest of the season now.
