Hi all,
As we are all getting our Santa lists sorted, I'm busy looking into Game Golf. Any users on here as keen to hear all feedback.
Looks very user friendly on the course and have watched Crossfield's blogs on it etc.
All opinions welcomed, but prefer user feedback.
One drawback I see is that it is not iPad compatible, can anyone confirm as my laptop is ancient

Now off to find my waterproofs for some aqua golf in Glasgow.....

I have one and think it is really great. Really useful insight as well as fun, if you like that sort of thing! Not used it too much recently as our winter pairs comp is foresomes but am actually feeling like I ought to play to feed the GG stats machine as I'd like definitive evidence over change from summer to winter performance.

The tech support folks at GG are very good and quick to reply so I'd suggest pinging them an email for the definitive position on compatibility and / or planned future improvements. (Currently you need to upload rounds via usb so not sure if there is any sort of adapter that would allow ipad connection?).

Hope that helps - go for it!

Quite a few threads if you want a wide spread quick opinions do a search, and a review on GM you tube channel.
Or wait for posts. But it seems very popular with those that have it.

I have it and use it from time to time. I find it really good for medal rounds but for obvious reasons, less so in Matchplay. The downloading does have to be to a pc but I then get the info on my ipad via their app.

The recording is something you have to get used to and it's easy to forget to tag a shot but this can be rectified on downloading, the use of say a 6 iron for a 20 yard knock out of the crud can distort figures but I suspect you could carry a spare tag for the purpose. The stats and overview are great though and, to me, worth the effort. It is a useful gizmo that I think has longevity and if the cost isn't going to break the bank then I'd seriously look at it

Chris,

they've sorted this. The stats report medians rather than averages and discount a'typically short shots I'm the software as well so no spare tag now required for chips etc. (I do carry a spare tag to flag penalty shots but even that's now actually required now.

I saw that in a release from them but I haven't used it for a few weeks to try. I just add penalty shots during the editing process

Hi,
new member of the forum here :)
This gadget seems to be a great bit of kit and as rightly said, us golfers are always looking for Xmas ideas. Was wondering for those that have it, how accurate are the readings. I know my phone using Golfshot is about 10 yards and my playing partners GPS watch never gives the same reading as my phone even when we are shoulder to shoulder. I suppose it all depends on the chips inside the device..... so how accurate are these.

It difficult to be certain how accurate I always Bushnell the shots but it's hard to remember the distances when back home and after downloading although I did remember each shot to edit where necessary. The map does look pretty accurate for where each shot has landed though.

Watched a few Crossfield course blogs today were they were using Club Golf and I lost count how many times they mentioned about tagging or forgetting to tag. Given how much emphasis is placed on keeping focus during a round it just seems a bit of a distraction.

You really do need to work it into a pre shot routine as, if you don't, you will forget to do it at times although you can edit later and put in any shots you miss

call me a cynic but I guess the underlined emphasis on taging is as a result of pound notes changing hands!

in practice, it took me 3 or 4 rounds to get into the habit now it is a non-issue.

I've been using GAME GOLF for quite some time now & it's pretty amazing. They continue to add new features & the stats have gotten even more detailed. You can still view & manage your rounds from your iPad but need to upload from your computer. Fortunately, the device can save a bunch of your rounds until you get a chance to get to a computer...everything is online so you can upload from any computer no problem (a family member, friend, etc)
