I'll confess that I'm pretty serious about getting better at this game of golf and am all up for using tech that can help in this regard. I use a launch monitor pretty much daily, video analysis (I use V1) and for on course performance I track my stats using Golfshot GPS on my phone. While the launch monitor and V1 do, to a certain extent, tell the full story (there's no hiding from the numbers) the stats that Golfshot collects don't really tell the whole story.

Here's some examples:

- My scrambling stats are improving. Is that down to better chipping or am I just getting closer to the green with my misses ie better irons shots in (or at least not as bad....)?
- My Fairways hit stats are pretty constant. But are my misses getting less severe?
- My putting stats are a tad up and down. But are the bad days due to better lag putting or better holing out?
- My scores are going down......... admittedly the only one that counts. But where should my focus be, what areas am I not physically improving on and what areas am I moving forward with?

Golfshot doesn't really tell you.

Then I saw Game Golf. So if I get this right I can save every round and replay it overlaid on aerial/satellite photography of the course. I can see WHY the missed fairways are having slightly less effect now. I can see WHY those missed greens aren't killing my score quite as much. I can compare a round today with one a couple of months ago and say "Those areas have improved in a tangible and obvious way on the course."

It sounds awesome. I really just need someone who's used it to tell me that it really is that good and I'll go buy one. If you could drop my wife a note saying that it's essential that would also be appreciated. I guess if there's any negative feedback I'll do my best to take that on board too.

Used since April, I firmly believe it has been a major factor in me reducing my Handicap by 2 shots this season, it really helps you identify weak areas and focus your practise, plus I've got actual distances I hit my clubs during play,

I use it and think eventually when I build up enough info on it it'll be useful

I'd read the threads Dan has highlighted and if you want more info I'd be delighted to try and help but we've posted up loads already. Mike, our esteemed leader, uses it and loves it!

Cheers all

I'll get reading. For some reason when I did a search it just posted up loads of threads with either game or golf in the title ie every other thread. I need to get a handle on the search function on here :)

Im curious about this as well.

Just wondering if it is really worth 150+

There are plenty of new ones on Ebay for less than £130.

I got mine from the Argos outlet store for £129 with free next day signed delivery.

i am yet to use it due to the weather but am looking forward to it.

I wonder if there should be a specific GameGolf thread for people using it to add their usernames so we can all follow each other?

Something I have wondered, and the chief reason I have not yet bought GG, is how the community deals with miss-hits. If it is collecting stats, etc... and giving you average club distances over time, how do you deal with that 30 yard 7 iron after a heavily fatted shot? Is there a facility to discount certain shots from the stats or assign a particular type of shot type (i.e. thin/fat/slice/hook/straight) when going through your round afterwards?

If not, I just don't see how any stats you end up with would mean anything. It would just be a jumbled mess of averaged decent/rubbish shots for a high handicapper. If you're playing off single figures and a shank or miss-hit is a rarity I can understand how it could be very, very useful indeed.

Be grateful to hear from someone on this.

I just leave them in as they are my stats and only I look at them so I understand when my driver only shows an average 299 yards is affected by the rogue 280 mishit (joking)

You can editor the round and change the club to one called "mishit" if you want before you sign the round and can't alter it

I was discussing this with the pro the other day, he was given a freebie by gamegolf, who I suppose would like him to push it.
He said that after about 10 rounds it works out your "normal" shots and anything outside a certain range from this will be dismissed as either a miss hit or hack out, chip etc.

A question for the regular GG users, does it recognise winter tees and greens? Also, how are you finding winter golf is changing your stats?

I've treated myself to one using some birthday pennies, but am undecided whether to crack on with it from the off, or wait until the course returns to proper tees and greens in the late winter/early spring.

Another quickie.....
So you tap your 6 iron and prepare for the shot.
The wind picks up so you drop to a 7 - how does the system keep up with that..?
Getting very itchy fingers about this.....that trigger is gonna get pulled soon I can tell!

It registers both, so you have to remember you've done it, and remove the stroke with the 6 iron in the software when reviewing your round.

Or just let it register the shot and correct the club number in the download review

Out of interest is it possible to view someones stats who has this?

As Imurg i'm also getting itchy fingers about this, it would be good to see what information someone has generated to see what you get and how it all looks.

Spoke to the assistant pro the other day and we maybe getting a demo one in the shop soon for people to hire.

Yes you can, whatever platform you use just follow some one(just download game golf, you don't need to own one), a few above have put their usernames (not mine, a I haven' got it yet), and you can see what game golf offers you.
