a round that is.

Its nearly 4 weeks now since i last swung a club having had a bad case of Bursitis (inflammation of the elbow) and its driving me crazy.
Two trip to A&E and two doses of antibiotics, anti inflammatory pills and i am just about on the mend.
Didnt want to aggrivate the problem so i have only done a small amount of carpet putting so i am going to be rusty as hell when i decide i am up to swinging a club properly, I have ordered an elbow support and when that arrives i may go to the range for some gentle chipping and pitching.
I am now officially a club member so need to get out to play some rounds and get that handicap sorted out.

I hope everyone out there is fit and well.

Happy new year to you all

Dont rush it, or you will end up making it worse and being out for twice as long. Worst case you may even end up with long lasting damage.

I know how you are feeling though, had a few weeks out with my back and it was torture waiting to get back.

Don't be too keen to rush back. To be honest in the frost and cold you haven't missed much. Even Ascot were all on temporary greens yesterday which is a very unusual occurence. Take it easy but be careful about going to a range and hitting balls as the protection offered by the mat is minimal and you will still get the vibrations through the elbow.

I have been struggling with sore elbows over the winter from too much range work and have to use anti-inflammatory creams and pain relief tablets. Fortunately it hasn't stopped me playing.

Take care and I hope you get out to play as soon as possible in 09

Range mats are a nightmare for elbows & wrists. There are just so few grass practice facilities for the masses.

Completed the first 18 in weeks today. Frost greens
Played 14 yesterday before it got too dark on normal greens but knew they would be on temps today as the mud/soil was freezing on the club before i could wipe it clean.

I can't wait for the daylight hours to get longer as I don't have time for 18 after work ATM.

Bring on some forum days

Suffering from bad tennis elbow in both elbows at the moment. Not sure if golf makes it worse or better. Played a few holes today on temps, striking the ball really well, ut very painful. Not sure where I go from here.

You have my sympathy, but the main thing is to be fixed for the new season in spring. Winter golf isn't much fun anyway.

I had bursitis in the knee. I'm a plumbing and heating engineer so always kneeling down. I am also a keen Martial Artist which also doesn't help.

Not had it for a while now but tennis elbow has taken over at the moment. Have had for about 5 weeks now. Just take anti inflam tabs.

I also use ibuprophen cream. Do you use anything chris?

No, I was taking massive qtys of ibuprofen, but Mrs Mog, who is a Dr, has advised against taking it on an empty stomache, as it is quite corrosive, and should only be taken with food. I am not good at eating regular meals ( a legacy from too many visits to china), so have stopped this. I now wear some pretty interesting strapping to play golf in, and suffer the rest of the time in silence. Oddly, the way I stuff my hands underthe pillow when I sleep seems to agravate it. May be I need to sleep standing up.

I just can't seem to get anywhere near the course at the mo. I'm still feeling the effects of my pre-Xmas flu and a combination of work and cold weather makes it difficult. I need to swing some sticks!!!

Not been able to play since mid december because of back spasms.

Rio Ferdinand has recently missed 10 days because of the same injury.

It'll be another two or three weeks before I dare the range again.

I need a Premiership physio!!!

Funnily enough I have been waking up with a sore shoulder where I have obviously slept funny. HID says I have been tucking hand under the pillow and sleeping on my hand. I asked her why she didn't wake me if I was in such a contorted position and she said "you were asleep so I thought I'd leave you"
