Dont normally use a standard driver... However... Tried the Ping g25 today and boy was I hitting it well...

However... The sound is a bit weird... Not what I expected not your normal driver sound...does anybody else own one or have tried can comment?

Cheers

Not the normal high pitched driver sound... Quite loud but a deep sound it was but its brand new and played long and straight.

As a driver it self it was superb!

Ah. Okay, yes, it's not a 'ping' sound, I guess. Still, not a bad sound, and certainly nothing like the Cobras... they used to have a horrible 'crack'!

That's why then... When I used to have a driver a couple of years ago it was a cobra... So was probably looking out for that sound.

It's not a bad sound it's just different and I'm sure I'll get used to it.

It's the performance I want and honestly cannot get over how good it was.

Thanks for your helps guys!

Ive got a sneaky feeling low spin drivers have a more thuddy sound than older drivers.

My 850 certainly sounds like this in its lowest spin setting.

Companies do meddle with the acoustics so they can probably just make them sound how they want.

I thought my 915 was going to burst my eardrum last night. Range bays and loud pinging noises don't mix.

My brother bought a Progen Chromo Mini Driver (15*) last week.
Now that really does sound weird. Almost a tinny scalded cat type noise.
Playing great for him though.

My brother has the G25 and i've never noticed it making a strange sound, he does hit it well for a 21 handicapper though!

I've just bought an Wilson Staff FG Tour from onlinegolf last week for £69 and first have to say it was the bargain of the century! But it sounds like the old cobra drivers with a very loud crack at impact, some don't like it....I love it.

maybe the ball being used will make a difference too?

I know with my driver, the old Dunlop ddh rocks I used to use left a horrific "crack" or "thud" noise whereas the srixons I now use leave with a cheery "ting". Almost as the ball is shouting "weeeeeeee" as it leaves the face.
