society day yesterday; 36 holes at Whipsnade (distinctly odd to play a shot and see wallabies chasing after it!).
For someone whose 'game' is built round the driver any hopes of a decent round were somewhat doomed when it went on strike. suffice to say the morning scorecard was not a pretty sight.
Afternoon was a Texas and, finally, some signs of life in the big stick. (why not use something else? I don't have anything sufficiently reliable! bit of a poser that)
we all know texas. a fun format that provides cover for the wayward shot. Oh to have one of the best drives of the day wasted because we all horlixed the second shot! saved by a really good pair of shots on the last - if I do say so myself (par 5, 2nd shot dead in line 6 in off the front edge, made the birdie).

So to today. Just have an easy round, try to work out what's happening. oh, boy - nothing, but nothing working. staggered round to 9, then came off. spent a while calming down, putting and chipping - then start again.

best 'medal' round yet - net -5! (though only 35 stableford)
now if I can only keep that going until next months medal!

Played a roll up this afternoon. Was striking the ball really well especially off the tee but had one of those rounds where shots were frittered away. Kept missing greens with my shiny new bats due not having total confidence in the yardages and a couple of poor swings.

Played the back nine pretty well and hopefully things will carry over until next week and the club championship. If my putter had worked today I'd have been a happy camper. Looks like the Odyssey is getting a weekend off and the Rossa Spider is getting a chance to make its mark at last
