Hello my Brother wants to take up golf again after getting upset and selling his entire set on the cheap.
I know he could get most of the clubs he needs off here
I just bought cracking 3 and 5 wood of a member for £60

He would need Driver, irons, hybrid, Wedges and a Putter
he could never hit a 3 wood

Also the clubs would have to the very forgiving and as easy to hit as can be

My question is how much do you think he would need to buy the clubs listed above, easy to hit ones, second hand in good condition

Any thoughts ideas suggestions comments welcomed

Ditch the ego and check out Dunlop sticks on eBay

Full set of GI ones and bag for £85 BIN. Auction of irons (plus Golden Bear putter and bag) £30.

Given previous history, I'd suggest getting started is the priority. Higher quality gear can be picked up later and 'old' traded for little loss. A bad swing will be just as bad with the latest gear as with 'adequate' gear.

If/when he decides, again, that golf is not for him, it hasn't cost much either.

For quality gear, 180-250 is the sort of range I'd suggest. Don't scrimp on the Putter though!

Fair enough.

What TM/Callaway clubs did he have previously - that were too difficult to hit?

Miz MX17/19 is my 'normal' recommendation. GI but can be used down low too - or later, forged, MX23/25.

I've got a Mizuno MP 630 Driver, 10.5*, Regular flex,Mitsubishi Rayon Fubuki shaft and a 52* and 58* MP-T10 Wedges, Dyanmic Gold wedge flex shafts, Grain flow forged goodness, currently residing behind the sofa at the minute.

Drop me a PM if interested

Mate, I live near you and I'm selling a set of John letters t8 irons and hybrid and a t9 driver £120. Only a year old. These are very forgiving and beginners clubs.

Let me know.

Have a good look through Ebay. Last year my girlfriend started playing and I got her a set of Cally X-12 5-SW, Cally-X fairway 3w & 5w and a Yonex Nanospeed driver for about £180. Worth buying something good quality second hand to get started, especially at the minute as people have bought new shinnies to start the season with and getting rid of their old stuff at the minute, I have seen a few bargains on there. He can look at replacing things over time and will get his money back on Ebay when he resells them. The girlfriend has just got a set of Ping woods from the pro shop to replace the ones I bought and I even made a small profit when I put them back on Ebay.

Callaway big bertha, and Tm superfast driver

Some good suggestions here
Any more would be welcomed

Look for last year/year before model Benross gear. You cannot go wrong with it, decent irons, very good woods and hybrids and decent putters. if you hunt around you can pick up all you need new from the VeloCT range for about £150
