Just to say, I picked up an FT-3 driver today. £129.99 at American Golf.
Just to make sure, I tried it in the tent and on the computer. As Madandra points out (quite sensibly), if you are in any doubt, it's worth a proper opinion.
Anyway, I chose a 10 degree, Regular Aldila NV, with the draw bias. We stuck with the draw bias, as I was consistently coming from the inside (not by mistake) with the face open 2-4 degrees. The computer simulation concluded a small draw landing approx 200 yds out with a 88-90 mph swing speed. The sales guy felt that the stiff would only be advantageous if I was up over 90 mph and probably 95.
So other than going for the 10 (as opposed to 10.5) I got exactly what I would have expected. My launch angle was 13-14 degrees, also about right......

First impressions are very good indeed. I hit 90 balls at the range and most were cracking. The draw bias seems to help bring back the slight push and on the odd pull, it didn't career left (pull hook) which would be scary. It is not a powerful club (have to hit real balls first!), similar to my old tech G.B.Bertha. but it's pretty sweet and relative child's play to get a clean centre strike.

So, I'd like to recommend it to anyone on the look out.
This at £129, the TaylorMade at online/nevada bobs £129 and the Cobra F speed £99 at discountgolf, all seems cracking deals.

Interesting, seen this and was thinking of recommending a friend try it. He is not long off the tee with quiet a slow swing speed.

Was thinking he start with something like Reg shaft and 11+ degrees. Will point him in the FT3 direction for him to try.

Hold your horses for 24 hours and I'll give you a clearer idea. It's getting some action first thing tomorrow on the big fairways of the back 9.

I'm not that familiar with these things but if my launch is 13-14 degrees, I am creating 3-4 with my "on the up" part of my swing.
If your friend tends to hit it high-ish but is consistent (like me) mainly because of the slower tempo, I'd say try the 10 first.

Performance is very good....but the sound is hardly inspiring or confidence building.

Hit 3 drives comfortably 10-15 yds past normal today

Managed to hit only 7 yds shorter off the heel (which is remarkable) on the 18th (tried 2) and can report better off silver/grey 2 3/4 tees than brush tees.

Overall, great club, great results, no slices today...so pretty chuffed. Just sounds a bit dead, even 100% out the centre.

7 over today...comfortable round, enjoyed being closer on 3-4 holes. Given up teeing on the right side....seems to cut down on the inexplicable pulls.
