Frustrated with probably another 0.1 - A rant but I'm going to feel much better!

Stableford on Saturday morning hit 9 of the first 10 greens made a mess of the 11th (would have been a treble on a shot hole :facepalm then proceeded to play more reasonable golf again to the end of the round (13 points from the final 7) for 34 points, chances are that's another 0.1 having driven then ball well struck my irons really nicely, I even chipped pretty well, just couldn't hole anything!

I'm actually starting to look at other courses with the frustration of all these 0.1s, James (JustOne) said to me at Cooden (just after I'd put my 42pts in) t'other week "so you've had 30 bad rounds?", NO, I'm playing great I'm driving it long and straight, I'm striking my irons beautifully, even my short game's improving yet I'm constantly bringing in 32-34 points (or medal equivalent) and getting 0.1 put on my handicap (which is the highest it's been for about 7 years). I know the handicap system says you're only supposed to break your handicap every 10 rounds (or something like that) but I must have a hell of a backlog waiting to come through!

Anyway I'm now hoping the CSS snuck up to level par and this rant has been for nowt!!!

you need to find a club with a higher SSS, play like a numpty most weeks and make buffer as the CSS is always 2 over par

Think Nairn might be a bit of a stretch for me to make an 8.45 tee every Saturday morning!

Pretty much sums my season up.

Been hitting it lovely, but can't seem to score. I hit 35 points in the Stableford at the weekend, again hitting it well, just can't seem to get a score that will see a reduction.

you need to get yourself some GI irons and a topflight, a cut would def be on the cards then

all good ideas, but with that socring he probably just needs a handicap of 11 to stop the 0.1s

Hitting it as well as I have for ages and going great guns in comps but then chuck in two bad holes from nowhere to undo all the good work and usually miss the buffer by a shot/point and get a 0.1 back. Handicap increasing but like you feeling as though I'm playing decent golf. Think we both have a silly score in there waiting to explode in a comp soon ad get a huge cut. Hope they both arrive soon

Don't get me wrong, I've had some bad days in there as well the 28 and 29 pointers where nothing works no matter what I try and those days I accept the 0.1 as deserved, but the way I played Saturday morning was nothing like that! I was drawn out with "thrush" on Saturday so that might account for at least 3 shots!!!

I've had 1 cut in nearly 2 years at SHGC and that was a 0.2 which took me back to guess what.....7.4!

I've had a couple of 42s 1 in a swindle and another (potentially better [or worse])in the Wildings Cole an inter-club match with the SEA where I actually felt sorry for my opponent who was playing some reasonable golf (of course the club are chuffed they've got someone who strikes the ball like a good 5 handicapper playing off 8!)

As much as I dislike playing with the guy I got drawn out with on Saturday, he did say words to the effect of "One day soon it's all going to click and you'll burn this place up!"
