I played today at Manchester Golf club in a open competition. The first nine I played really well, 4 pars, 5 bogeys, even had a couple of putts lip out, I drove well, hit my irons well, chipped and putted well. then I got to the 10th.

I hit the fairway and had a 6 iron to the green, I hit the ground 6 inches behind the ball and just knocked it 30 yards forward, no worries, I hit the green with a 9 iron although on the bottom level of a 2 tier green, the first putt was reasonable and finished 3 feet away, then I took 3 more putts for a triple bogey. A pain but not a disaster, cue hole 11.

My drive was ok and I had a 5 iron to the green but hit it 30 degrees right, straight into the cabbage, took 3 to find the fairway and finished with a 9.

Onto the 12th and 2 good woods and a chip gave me an 8 foot putt for a birdie, I took 3! for a bogey 6.

The 13th is a par 3 to an elevated green, I topped a 6 iron into more cabbage and walked off with a 7.

I continued to hit good drives then top irons, also 4 putted another green, I did par the last, but ended up taking 57 shots on the back nine.

How on earth can I score 15 shots more on the back nine compared to the front nine?

Have you tried Coconut water and Sweetspot Golf bars Lou? All you need to keep up those energy levels, and prevent back 9 burn-out.....Apparently.....;)

Cos your a handicap golfer?

I can see the point off that, I often have up and down rounds, a few pars interspersed with a double or triple or 2, but today, I was totally on song the front 9 and totally off it on the back, it must be more than cos you're a handicap golfer.

It happens. I can have vastly different nines and play one close to par and the other like a 28 handicapper. Stupid game. I would be more concerned with the topped shots and the one going right and where they came from.

That is a night and day round. Too casual on the back 9, lost concentration? Sounds like you had some real bad shots in there though that buried you. Trying to hard to get them back rather than playing the percentages?

Welcome to my world, do this far to regularly. This week end played the front nine one over hcp while playing off a 18 hcp for the comp. really top draw stuff. Played the back nine like I'd never played before!

i get the impression from your posts you think you are a scratch golfer...

you have a 15 handicap and for that reason you can shoot 18 shots over the CSS and still play to your handicap.
have a go at just playing some games and not worrying about your score and feeling you have to tell everyone your a great player cos you shot this score etc.

.

Not at all, my aim is just to have more pars than double bogeys or worse, I just think that I should have more consistency in the course of a round, I am currently on a run of 7 0.1s and its very frustrating.
