Frilford Heath

Brilliant courses, I played the lesser one in the morning which is a bit inland links style, quite open but high grass lined fairways, lots of bunkers, some humongous and some pots and undulating fairways and quite a few mounds, some blind tee shots but all-in-all, a quality course. I then played the proper Championship course in the afternoon which was superb, heather lined fairways and huge gorses plants down the fairways also which if you go anywhere near, forget it! I played it immediately after the Pro Ams and the greens were scary fast.

Lovely and friendly clubhouse, good food and great choice of real ales, all in all I wouldn't hesitate to play it again

Enjoy :D

Sounding better by the minute. I have heard many good reports from others too, so what with a good weather forecast being touted everywhere tomorrow... bring it on!!!:D

Plus 1 for the above, played it a few times enjoy.

I think it was the red I played a while ago, really nice layout but the condition at that time (autumn) badly let it down, I would hope that was a blip and it's now in good shape.

My nearest course as crow flies, give us a wave! :)
Played a couple of times and agree with above. My PP each time who has played a few "big name" courses felt it was missing a little something, I like to think in a good way though.
Team who runs our pro shop & a couple of others, has recently taken over there - our head pro moved. So say hi to Paul for me :)

Fantastic venue. Once those greens get quick it's fun. It's not going to be easy at this time of year with the heather coming on. Have a great day

Oh Gawd! Don't mention the heather. My first experience of said shrubby evilness was at Blackmoor last September and it totally murdered me.

If there was a clump (even the smallest clump) my ball sought it out like a homing missile and nestled down in it as deep as a deep thing that fancied going particularly deep on the day. Had I'encountered richart back then I'd have blubbed my eyes out to him on here.

Will do.

I've played there a couple of times, the Red twice and once on the Green.

It's the best course in the area but to be fair, Oxfordshire isn't really blessed with decent courses. I agree with the comment above, it really doesn't do much for me. Although an old established course, the Red somehow has a new, immature feel to it. Almost as if it will be good in 20 years time.

Don't know what the Blue is like but it's regarded as the 2nd or 3rd course there.

It's ok - decent enough course but i personally would prefer to play somewhere like Studley Wood

The red is a good course

Yes, one of my group whose played all three says The Red is the one. Seems we're to play it next year.

Seriously, I wouldn't bother. Where you are based, I would head to some of the good Surrey courses which charge similar money to Frilford.

If you are based in Surrey I'm not sure why you are travelling to go there when you have courses a mile better on your doorstep

Based in Reading, although venue not my call. It's a bit of a biggish do and I'm just one of the field. But I have heard a lot of good stuff about FH so looking forward to it very much, and for what we're paying it's cracking value to be honest.

Played a few of the Surrey courses and really enjoyed them, Blackmoor, Farnham Sands to name but two and playing Camberley Heath in a few weeks.

If you see a RAF looking chap shooting a couple over par that will be Anthony (TXL) Even got his mug on the committee photos.;)

If you come back to Blackmoor in August you can play out of the heather when in bloom. Assuming you can find your ball.

Based in Berks and playing in a County event with large field so venue not anything to do with me or my PPs.

He must've won the event we played in last year as it was a home team who murdered the field :D
