Frilford Heath Golf Club

Frilford Heath is cracking, one of the best places to play in the area, loveley heathland golf. Theres 3 courses there, the red is the original and the blue the newest (though this tends to be the one they play on for tournies like the europro). The green much shorter but still a decent track and a good test.

If youre getting a day ticket its well worth seeing what they want for county card rate, last year I think it was only £50 with a county card for a day ticket (county cards are usually free or £10/£15 depending on your union)

keep meaning to play here. 2 friends of my dad are members here and have offered me a game whenever i want! just not got round to it!

Played there a couple of times (red and green, not played blue) and tbh, I think it's a bit overrated. Although it is a long established course, the red very much has a 'new course' feel to me. Almost like you should come back in 10 years time when it has matured.

I feel that it is so highly rated because there is very little else in the area to compete with it. Personally, if you have the option then I would go to a different area.

Hi

anyone played Frilford Heath Golf Club before? Website looks good and looking at a day ticket mid July?

thanks

Played it a year or two back in the regional finals of the volvo matchplay, lovely lovely course let down by awful greens (pretty sure we were just unlucky but they were dreadful at the time)

I agree Gordon. Decent and very nice in places but would struggle to make Top 200 or 250

Played the blue and the red

the red was decent enough but was a bit bored of it tbh - expected better tbh

The blue was better but again it was just a decent course

Certainly wasnt anything to get excited about

Where is the best place you have played Liverpoolphil? Wasn't getting excited just simply asking advice before spending money on a day ticket

Umm so far it would be the Berkshire - stunning course

Then the Marquess at Woburn then Wentworth.

Think I may have blagged a round at Frilford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HID was at the hospital I work at for some tests late this afternoon and I was talking to a second year doctor I recognised as I did his pre-commencement ID checks not so long ago. Mentioned golf and he plays and he's applied to join through a consultant who's already a member. He's said once it goes through he'll give me a shout. Shows you what we're missing, he's off to The Berkshire with his registrar for a game on Thursday too. Different world

Im guessing the OP didnt ask the question to allow someone like you to post a cheap dig like a school child.

Played it a few times and I really like it. Red is a good old fashioned heathland layout with lovely fairways, deep bunkers and a tricky greens. Always been in great condition. Nice club house too.
