Sad I know but I amwatching Tipping Point on TV.
Question=What is it called if a golf ball is buried in sand in a bunker?
Options=Fried egg/poached egg/scrambled egg.
Correct answer was fried egg.!
I thought poached egg as did my better half (she is a none golfer).
What is the common answer to this?

I had a "poached egg" today, clipped a twig and fell like a stone vertically into the bunker, this is when you get them :(

I'very heard both, poached egg lie is when there is sand all the way round the ball like it has just dropped in to soft sand.
Fried egg is where there is an impact "crater" with the ball in the middle and sand kind of "blasted" away but the ball is still a bit sunk.

Well, that's how it's always been described to me.

Have also heard both being used for different types of lie in the bunker

Fried Egg the one that has landed the created a crater around it with the ball looking like the yoke and crater the white

And poached egg the one that is deep down in its one pitch mark in the bunker with the sand going over the ball a little

You mainly get fried eggs in bunkers with very fine fluffy type sand and poached egg in the more compact heavy sand ( mainly when the sand is wet )

Fried egg.
Because most people know what a fried egg is but poached egg is a bit posh.
In Thailand it's Kai Doa, fried egg.
