It is with deep shame I regret to announce I had one on Sunday. Stood on the 1st driver in hand in front of two other fourballs…… no I’m only joking.

I was backed up hard against tree, could only take the club back to about 45 degrees. Had to come down really steep. Actually it wasn’t a fresh airy as such as I took some ground but there was defo no ball involved. Split my hands on the 2nd successful attempt.

The really embarrassing thing was it wasn’t even my worst shot on the hole! That little honour goes to a bladed greenside SW which came to rest in the bunker opposite.

I picked a bad week to give up glue sniffing.

Sunday morning. playing with 3 strangers, going well until side of green for 2 I had to chip up steep hill over a bunker but nothing too strenuous. Head up, off the toe, ball shoots off at right angles, completely missed the green finished with a 6. Embarrassing or what? looks like I picked the wrong week to give up drinking.
I feel your pain.

Had one last year in a foursomes knock out. My partner drives into the trees, and I go in there to play it out. Now we get a shot here, so all I really need to do is chip it back out. But no, glory mode kicks in. If I can knock it 200 out of the trees, with a slight fade, we could be on the green. Practice swing, ok, another, ok, another, still ok. Right, go for it.
Swing back, ok, start the downswing, and the head of the club hooks up on a branch, pulling the club out of my hands. Missed the ball by about 2 foot.

Partner chips out, we make double, and lose the hole.

The 23rd hole.

Haven't played with him since.

You mean he hasn't played with you :)

Think we've all done that when deep in the trees. Why is it that we can never see the value of a penalty shot until it's too late !!

I missed a half inch putt a couple of weeks ago, technically not a fresh as I managed to move it quarter of an inch without holing it which is actually harder to do !! Gave my partners a good laugh anyway.

A bunch of us were playing a charity day in Bicester years ago and our Club President was "Captaining" one of the groups. 1st tee in front of at least 40 onlookers - I think he might have got within 3 inches of the ball but I'm not sure.

of course we didn't laugh.........
