During the winter months I have been known hit the odd fat shot and take out a piece of turf big enough to cover my lawn at home. I have been told a tip of concentrating on a piece of grass an inch behind the ball during the swing and it does sometimes work for me or shorten my stance so I stand taller above the ball.
Does anyone have any other tips that may erradicate the winter fat shot ???!?!

I was having problems chipping in the summer and the pro got me to put the club 5 inches behind the ball at set up and then swing normally as though I was playing the shot. Made perfect contact everytime. Not sure how it works but it does

TBH i think you have to slightly adapt your game, or should I say me, mine. If I know there is a chance of striking gold then I tend to sweep the ball instead of trap it. A few practice swings to brush the top of the grass usually does the trick.
