......... do you feel short changed and feel like you're only playing half of a game??

I for one really enjoy both of these formats as they're a bit of a change. I play enough medals and matchplay ties for myself and really like the fact that you can get some input from your playing partner

I ask because one of my regular playing partners detests these forms of the game with a passion.

Any views out there?

I do like them.

But it doesn't feel as if I've played a full round though!

Very popular (and sometimes compulsory) at certain clubs though!

Great way to play after a Morning round and a 'decent' lunch!

Greensomes aren't so bad, but if there's a foursomes comp on I'll book myself the 1st available tee time after the comp!

Canadian Greensomes is better still!

There's a lot of greensomes at our place which is ok although prefer 4BBB as a pairs competition. It was our foursomes club champs yesterday which was over 36 holes. We had a right old laugh as my partner plays off 30 so we found some interesting spots - not all of her doing!

If we enter a mixed open then I'll go for 4BBB or don't feel I've really played the course and that's a big reason for doing them.

I really enjoy both foursomes and greensomes as competitive formats. Very different and serious golfing challenges when compared with the rather prosaic 4BBB format. I never consider me being short-changed - as a member why would I? I can play as much 4BBB and singles stroke play as I want. Got semi-final of clubs mixed 4somes on Friday. Quietly confident. My lady partner is very steady off the tee and good on the green.

greensomes, as T scramble, are a difficult format to create equitable competition over a range of handicaps and 'styles' - even more so in mixed formats!

there are good reasons singles, foursomes and BB are the competition formats with rules :)

Agree - not quite so much a fan of greensomes mixed or otherwise as competitive format - but still enjoy them. I don't view T-scramble as 'serious' golf - it's fun but that's it. Most recent T-scramble I played in was won by the team of low single figure handicappers. Not surprising really.

I may have mentioned this before, but having won my Clubs winter foursomes twice in the last four years, I love the format !!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do need to pick your partner carefully.

I won our club foursomes a few years ago but I hate the format and its a nightmare to arrange games as our format pairs a high and low handicapper together and usually you get 4 golfers who rarely play together. Try arranging a game then !

Not a fan.

After working all week and looking forward to playing at the weekend, I'd rather play a complete round.

If I only played one round a week then I wouldn't want it to be foursomes. I'm happy if in any week I only have one round for that to be foursomes occasionally. But that's not really what the OP was asking. Foursomes is a great format but not if it's my only game every week - but it isn't - and I don't think there are that many foursomes-only golf club clubs out there.

I always enjoyed the foursomes and mixed foursomes games when I was a member and miss the format. I continued in these formats due to commitments to playing partners after I'd stopped playing in the singles stuff due to disagreements about how the knock out comps were organised (our foursomes was only ever k/o of representing the club, maybe winter but I didn't play winter) at our club.

I think it's good for people to play with a partner as you need to think and make decisions for them as they will have the next shot. I believe it can only help players with their own course management, to see different options and ways of playing the game and to evaluate the risks and rewards of shots selected.

It is only half a game and can be a challenge to find a rhythm sometimes noticeable when you suddenly have a long putt for the 1st time in 8 holes, so I can see why some people may not enjoy it so much.

However, I think it has many benefits and can only help peoples golf to play the game this way sometimes.

I like scratch and mixed foursomes.
Not so keen on greensomes after once being paired with a hooker and slicer.
They generally missed the fairways on opposite sides, tried to find their balls, then walked to the middle of the fairway for a 2 minute confab before deciding who would play. Sometimes they would also walk over and look at each others lies.
