How do you calculate the amount of strokes received?
I am going away this weekend and playing with a few work mates, although ive played it as a side bet on a sunday ive never played as a competition so have never bothered to ask how its worked out just concentrated on getting the ball in the hole in the least amount of shots and if we win it's a bonus if we lose it's only ever a few quid.

Is it by adding up both handicaps and the difference between the two is the amount of shots received. Someone at work said that you do it 3/4 of the difference?

I thinks 3/4 the difference off the low guy. Example low guy off scratch you of 12 ...3/4 12 equals 9 shots for you. This worked out for the whole gruop I think. Dont think you added them up as they are worked out separatley

Yep. If it's 4-ball better-ball (all 4 players playing their own ball).

Each of the 3 high handicaps receives 3/4 of the difference between their handicap and the low guys handicap. The low guy gets nothing.

When you're working out the 3/4, 0.5 always rounds up.

Example, lowest h'cap is 8.

8 h'cap. Gets no shots.
11 h'cap. Difference of 3. 3/4 of 3 is 2.25 so gets 2 shots.
14 h'cap. Difference of 6. 3/4 of 6 is 4.5 so gets 5 shots.
22 h'cap. Difference of 14. 3/4 of 14 is 10.5 so gets 11 shots.

Sorry if that's teaching my grandmother to suck eggs
