Love this stuff, space, time, other life....etc this planet is 600 light years away, so even if we could send a message it would be 600 years to reach them and 600 years to come back

Earth; "Hello new planet, humans here, how advanced are you?"
600 years pass..........
New Planet; "can you repeat that?"

Bit like calling BT's call centre in Mombai except new planet is quicker.

Have the Americans stuck a flag in the ground and claimed it as theirs yet :smirk:

I'm like you, in the sense I love anything to do with astronamy. You're a much better golfer :smirk:

It's good that they've found somewhere like Earth - now they have to invent a means of getting us there a bit sooner than 600 light years.
Only about 35 gazillion miles away

Well.

Light travels around 5,865,696,000,000 miles per year. Multiply that by 600 and that's how far away it is.

For the purposes of the forum, 35 gazillion miles is a direct equivalent :smirk:
