Right, I'm playing a fouball better ball match play comp this Saturday but me and my partner are confused with how the handicap works.

Can someone give us a straight forward answer please.

Myself 13h/c
Partner 16 h/c

Against
Player 3-10h/c
Player 4- 15h/c

The rules on our website state the follwing

Four ball better ball matchplay
White Tees
Non-Qualifying
3/4 handicap difference from lowest handicap player

So what will my and my partners handicap be ?

Any help is appreciated 😆

It's 3/4 of the difference off the lowest. If he's 10, you're 13, diff is 3, 3/4 is 2.25, rounded down = you get 2 shots.
Repeat for your mate

You will get 2 shots, one on stroke index 1 and one on stroke index 2. Your partner will get 5 shots on stroke indexes 1 to 5. His partner will get 4 shots and he won't get any

Good luck!

You work out the shots from the lowest HC who is ten

You get 2 shots
You FC gets 5

His Partner gets 4 shots

Does the shots allowance change if you stand in the wrong place?

what happens if one of his opponents is a lady with different SSS? :D

Shot calculation the same id have thought though comp committee may choose to give ladies one or more courtesy shots - usually taken off the gents card (for SI purposes) - if there is a difference between ladies and gents SSS

Ask richart about that, I'm sure he'll take great delight in telling you how he lost money to a girl who was playing off the men's tees WITHOUT any courtesy shots.

The sweetest £2 I've ever won in my life

there is no such thing as courtesy shots anymore

adjustments for relative SSS can work both ways and explaining that the gents are getting shots under the banner of 'courtesy' leads to heated discussion...

Well done Duncan.
Some find that one a bit difficult to understand.

I appreciate that there is nothing in the rules (of competition) about courtesy shots but in our clubs 'friendly' New Ladies Capn vs New Gents Capn match we gents give the ladies a couple of courtesy shots. They are not slow to demand them into the bargain. This is because our gents Stroke Indexing adds difficulty for ladies.
