Forum pages in GM

evening all

I am looking for a volunteer to take over the collation/writing of the monthly forum pages in the magazine from Homer.

My guess is that the job involves a few (perhaps max 5 hours) a month collating info/pics, writing up the copy and liaising with me.

Being a regular on the forum and having decent standard of written English would be an distinct advantage (as they say in job adverts). The post is unpaid but we will remunerate the writer with the odd item of golf kit here and there.

I know Homer would be happy to give you an insight into the nitty gritty of how much time it takes up/logistical issues etc if you PM him.

If anyone has any questions to ask me either post them here or mail me direct michael_harris@ipcmedia.com and I'll try to answer any questions ASAP

Finally I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Homer publicly for the hard graft he has put in over the last 8 months developing what I think is a nice feature in the mag. If only all my contributors submitted clean copy on time and to word count as he has always done I'd be a happy man!

I guess after all the comments that have been directed towards Homer, he now feels he cannot continue in his post he loved doing so much.
Shame really.

Right from my first post Homer has always replied to offer his support and engage in dialogue, he hasn't always agreed with me but that is what adult discussion is about. Thanks for making me feel welcome Homer and for all you have done in the mag to make the forum pages so interesting to read.

Never a truer word spoken Bob. Fed up with those with nothing better to do than hurl abuse and question integrity in the name of mickey taking. I guess you can chalk it up as another win for mob mentality who won't let truth get in the way of fun.
I could name and shame those that PM'd me with snide and derogatory messages over the weekend and copy and paste them for general consumption but I like to think I'm bigger and better than that.

For the record as I'm no longer worried about my position, I was one of the few that contact Mono in his early ventures on here and warned him about how his constant for sale threads were upsetting the same narrow minded people and offered him advice. Yes I have questioned some of his stuff and tales on here but never persecuted to the degree I was over Friday and Saturday. Again I've spoken to him off thread about a number of topics and me and him are square. In fact I was going to include him in the next meet the forum section so hardly something anyone with an axe to grind would need to do - sorry Mono I'll guess you'll have to speak to my successor.

For those that have supported my work over the eight or so months thank you and for those that were more worried about what was going on in private life and whether I'd played days afer an operation or not I guess you'll have to find something golf related to chat about now.

Not my call anymore. What I will say is I have your picture and the questionairre still and so once the new person is announced and providing they give me an e-mail address I'll certainly pass it on to them. I'm just sorry I never got the chance to do it as promised.

Homer, i feel you have made a mountain out of a molehill, although at the end of the day the decision is yours and yours only.
It was only banter, although i understand that you have taken it personally. I work on a building site where banter like that goes on all the time , sometimes you give it and sometimes you have to take it , but the worst thing you can do is show weakness .
I believe that if all that had been posted had been said in a pub environment it would have been just a laugh, but in a forum situation it is impossible to be sure of someones seriousness. Face to face you would know for sure if somebody was 'pulling your leg'
I assume you are doing what is right for you, but if doing the work for the magazine is what you love , and i do feel that you give it 100% , then sod everybody else ! keep doing it.

Actually the decision was taken by MikeH so well done to you and the rest of the baying pack who questioned my integrity and wouldn't accept the answer given, never mind it being the truth no matter how unlikely it seemed. I like banter like the rest but as a large percentage have said a lot of it overstepped the mark, some by a long way.

I know it will give many on here a warm feeling that I can no longer do the forum pages as a result and that the so called "forum king" has been deposed. There are more important things in life and its a shame others can't quite get their perspective right but I guess whether I played a few days after an operation or not (I didn't for the record)is much more important than golf chat (sorry didn't you realise!) but as long as the pack have their pound of flesh then I guess everyone else is happy.
