Finding myself chasing the pages to check on the dates for Goswick, I've come to the conclusion that a separate 'Meets' forum may be the answer. If kept solely for that purpose keeping a thread 'current' would not be so difficult.

Possibly, but it would be another section to have to look at. I don't think subdivisions are that popular on here (or they weren't last time they were suggested).

I am to yet to be convinced that much needs to be done to the current format.

You can always search for stuff.

true, but it would save re-starting threads to keep them current.

as to sub-divisions, it just needs a little self-management (forethought) to post in the right place

I agree if they are going to become increasingly more popular / frequent it could well be worth it. Especially for organisation purposes. However again it means checking another forum for new posts or risk missing out- I think that is what Murph was getting at not the issue of posting on the correct sub-forum.

There is no need for a meets subsection fellas, there is a thread subscription service running here where you can choose to have emails notifying you of updates to threads. its in your user options. You get a link with the email so no need to go searching. :)

I think a separate section would be beneficial especially as there have been a number of smaller meets plus the grand match on the main thread. It just means that if you are not able to play you only need to look at the initial details and not click on that sub-section again.

Apart from my first suggestion, why not ask the mods (staff) to make certain threads, sticky threads (they are pinned to the top of the section) though Id warn of making too many sticky threads as people get fed up having to scroll down just to see the start of the new stuff.

Darn brendy beat me to it. Sticky threads are a goodway of keeping popular posts at the top of the list without people having to post in them.

I wouldn't mind havin a couple of extra rooms for different catergories now the place is taking off really well. But thats for another thread

Some forums use a system whereby, when someone posts to a thread then it stays at the top of the page, or an old thread can be brought back upto the top for others to see, read & reply to. A system this forum would benefit from.

But I'd certainly say a meets section would be worthwhile, just so long as my suggetion above is also followed.

Stickies are good, but if you're not careful you can end up with a dozen stickies at the top of a page, imagine half a dozen different meets localized to different regions all over the country.

Imagine if each county had a meet or say I suggested a meet for all those local to Staffordshire, Derbyshire, leicestershire & Nottinhamshire.

Thensomeone else came on with one in Yorkshire, someone-else in the lowlands of scotland, Someone else suggesting a Northeast Meet Or Northwest Meet & so on that's before taking in the rest of scotland, The south of England, Wales, different parts of Ireland etc. Heck somone a little while ago suggested one for somewhere in Portugal (Now I was envious)... Stickies would look like someones fridge with Yellow post-it notes all over it, something that is banned from my fridge at home.
