Former world number 1 loses his tour card

hes only lost it because he didnt play enough events though! Basically he'll play on invites next year upto a max of 12 tournaments (he played 13 this yr, needed to play 15) then gets his card straight back for the following year

PGA Tour's loss and hopefully the European Tour's gain!

Bit embarrassing for the PGA Tour seeing as he won the Players and the US Open last year.

Not Tiger
Marin Kaymer

4 years after being world number 1, he is now cardless, that is pretty astonishing!

Is it not down to the number of events he played ?

He can still play in lots of events over there due to winning the U.S. Open but can't be a part of the playoffs

Pretty sure he will keep his card as a result of his US Open win & Players. They usually come with a 5 year exemption?

Just read up on this. Seems bizarre he will play fewer tournaments next year, but then will be exempt the year after?!

Did he missed events because of injury or playing in Europe?

A condition of the exemption is that he must play 15 tournaments a year. When he worked out his schedule he probably planned on including at least 2 of the fed ex cup series in that number so because he missed out he's only played 13 and won't be a tour member next season. He'll obviously still play in plenty of tournaments but won't be allowed to get any fed ex cup points for next year unless possibly he wins another major or WGC (see Shane Lowry).
