Hi,

thanks for welcome messages in my first post.

Thought id show you this picture of what happened to my zb 8 iron last month, the guy i was playing with swears he saw me shed a tear when this happened. It was caused by a stone/rock underneath the surface.

I ended up having to get a new 8 iron direct from titleist as the club pro said he couldn't fix it as the groove was basically ruined and the steel slightly raised up causing problems. Doesnt look as bad in the picture but is very deep.

Holy moley. I have quite a few dents in the sole of my 58 from stones in bunkers, but that is just biblically bad!

I would shed a face full of tears, hope you learnt your lesson though, buy Mizunos :D

Not sure any club will give you protection from stones under the surface. Wimbledon Common use to be really bad for it especially where the horse rides crossed various fairways. Not much you can do I guess. I guess your pro should be able to hammer down and tidy up the jagged edge but not much can be done with the gauge

What a bummer. Gorgeous clubs though. I can understand why you'd want to keep them looking like new. Hope you have head covers to avoid bag chatter.

Avoid bag chatter? thats like putting your fingers in your ear when angels sing!

Forged clubs chimming together is a sound to behold!

That is nothing. I had my Macgregor 1025m blades 3 weeks before I hit a brick buried in leaves beside our seventh, and took a chunk out about 10mm long. Totally non repairable. Can't sell em, Golf bidder won't even price them. MacG couldn't repace it either, as it was an out going model.

Still got them in the wardrobe. Most of them, 9/10, 7i 1/10.

I was gutted when it happened. Still am.

ebay sometimes have odd clubs for sale so worth keeping an eye out.

Yep - I fatally damaged a Mizzy sand wedge a couple of years ago playing in an exchange day at Denton in Manchester. Huge boulder covered by grass in a hollow just short of the 18th green. Was not a happy bunny I can tell you.

In order to replace the 7i, I bought a whole new set, on the cheap, but have subsequently sold them on, still leaving me one 7i short of a set.

I ruined a set of Mizzy TP19's at my old club, they had extended from 9 holes to 18 when i joined and all the new holes had stones just under the surface of the fairways, i tend to take a fair sized divot so over a period of about 2 months completely destroyed the set!!!....i felt sick inside when the first one got gouged!!! I've still got them, i couldn't even give them away now!!! :(

I got a lovely little splatter of stones chips on the face of my 6 iron from that comedy par 5 at The Addington last year.

Trying to play up to that green from under the trees down the right hand side, and tokk a big slice of the loose bark chippings and stuff with the divot.

Left a nice little peppering of dinks on the clubface, the only "good" thing about it was that they are flush on the sweetspot . Had to get my pro to emery them the rough edges down a bit.

When i first got my new irons my first shot with my Pw i hit a boulder underneath the fairway and now have a chunk about the size of a 5p on the sole of the club but it still playable thankfully

Yes Bob, top left, but they only have a 6i.

Doesn't matter that much now, as they are my spare set. Although after the way I hit the ball today, they may be coming out again.
