Just back from F/P and thought I would give a heads-up for those playing in the Forum Challenge with Golf Magic later this month:
Generally the course is in excellent condition, tee boxes and fairways are superb, the sand traps are a real challenge to escape from, especially the fairway bunkers which are deep and strategically well placed, a few (not that I visited them all - honest!
) of the greenside bunkers could do with the sand being deeper I felt.
The greens are quick, undulating and in great condition considering the winter we've all had, again just one critiscism; there were more pitch marks than I have ever seen on any course anywhere, not much the greenstaff can do about that of course, but I would have expected anyone playing this course to understand that repairing your own as well as any other pitch marks is expected, nay demanded on greens such as these.
Lots of tree lined fairways, as you would expect given the name lol, so being straight off the tee is important, better to club down and go for accuracy as opposed to length I found.
All in all a superb course and good value at £30 twilight (after 3) and a cracking venue for the meet, almost wish I wasn't missing it.
