Was at a conference at FOA this week so took the opportunity to play on the Arden .. first time I have played on a championship course.. and found it really hardwork and no fun for the first 9 and scored 56 for first 9 I nearly gave up..but for £55 we decided to carry on and then played last 9 in 43... including 3 birdies.. made it all worthwhile.. but it made me and my partner think how well the course is designed to ensure any way ward shot is punished .. and that getting it into play is more important than distance..
