Hi all

I've been playing reguarly for 18 months now and am playing to 15-18 most weeks, but for the life of me I CANNOT draw my driver/woods. I do have some success with my mid-long irons simply by closing the club face at address by turning the club in my grip.

I use a Nike Covert standard driver - setup left and 9.5 degrees. Nike Covert 3 wood (standard).
I use Bridgestone B330 RXS balls.

I've had some success with my Nike Covert 3 hybrid (standard) but not consistent.

What one tip would you suggest that has worked for you? I'm bored of watching countless youtube videos.

I think my problem may be that I'm not in-out enough...... but am open to suggestions.

Adam

Hi Adam, welcome aboard.
I hit a draw and have a slight in to out swing but to be honest, as long as you can hit a repeatable shot shape and it isnt a banana, I wouldnt worry. I know a couple of guys who naturally fade it and they hit it miles and quite repeatable too.

Hi Brendy, thanks for the quick reply.

I see your point, I guess I see "working" the ball as a natural progression in my golfing skills.....plus I'm about to join a club where a draw would/could come in handy.

best thing you could do would be go see a pro as they would be able to teach you how to do it with the swing you have, what may work for one may not work for others due to swing types,

a draw s not all its cracked up to be. I have a draw and some pin positions are impos to get at for me. I found as well tha some course just don't suite a draw, Pitlochry for one;)

Better to draw the ball on the 16th than slice it - or go too long - long way down :)

Brilliant little par 3

First question...why do you want to hit a draw? Is it because you want to be able to shape the ball both ways or because you think hitting a draw is better?

I wouldn't worry about trying to "shape" shots. Work with your natural shot shape and go along with it.

Its more important where it lands rather than what its doing up in the air

Stick with fade. It is a fine shot. I wish I could get rid of the draw.

purely because I want to be able to....all my irons are (generally) straight, with my bad shot being a fade. My driver and woods again are normally straight, with a slight fade at worst.

I find it frustrating that I get to holes that a draw would be a beneficial and not having the ability to do it.

It's not critical to my game, but want to be the best golfer I can be.

There's a lot you can work on - that will give much quicker and more noticeable results - playing off 15-18 (or probably even any handicap) before looking at adding a draw to your repertoire :)

who's to say I'm not working on other things?

I played to 15 at Nizels on Tuesday.....think I've done ok considering I picked up a club for the first time in 10 years in Jan 2012.

Fair enough, I've got to 7 without worrying about stuff like that but not gonna knock you for wanting to.

You probably don't realise what you have started here but do you understand the ball flight laws? I suspect that is the way this thread is going :D

lol ok...well, I'm here to be educated.

I'm working hard on my putting at the moment and my wedge game isn't where I want it to be....I hope I'm not taking on too much at once.

I'm not unhappy with my game by any means, just want to carry on improving.

OK, well I'm no expert but if you search the archives for ball flight laws you'll find plenty of good info, failing that, our resident expert JustOne will no doubt be along to help shortly. Good Luck
