I noticed a FS thread locked today with a note saying it's also listed on ebay.

Locking (and not deleting) is just allowing what's against the rules to continue.

Am I missing something or are the rules not being properly enforced?

It acts as a reminder to members that items should not be listed on ebay and here at the same time
we have had to deal with several recently and felt it necessary remind everyone, especially newer forumers

I have a note to remove the thread in a few days

These are the For sale Section Rules as listed at the top of the For Sale Section

""Below are a set of rules for using the For Sale forum. Please abide by them. Failure to do so will result in your posts being removed and you being subject to either a temporary, or for persistent offenders, a permanent ban from the For Sale section, or the forum as a whole.

To be eligible to post in this section a combination of 100 posts* and 60 days membership of the forum must be passed.
This forum is for selling your unwanted personal golf equipment ONLY. This is not somewhere for selling TVs cars. XBOXs, or for golf-related businesses to hawk villas near golf courses, online golf shops, time-shares, mental game coaching etc.
Items listed must have a current photograph and a fixed price.
Do NOT offer items for sale here if they are listed for sale elsewhere. I.E. eBay, golfbidder etc.
Sellers may give one 'bump' to their listings. Any further 'bumps' by the seller will result in the thread being closed""

Hope that answers your question Val.

It does strike me as a bit odd that we cant list on Ebay etc too. I agree with CMAC, surely by locking the threads you are still allowing it?

I think what people often forget on here is that the moderators don't write the rules/T&C's for the site and sub-forums. The all rules are decided by GM. All the moderator panel do is enforce the rules.

Speaking personlly, if I see sone thing dually listed, I'll remove the post and PM the user to explain it's removal.

There is a thread in there at the minute that I have locked (at request of OP) as the goods are off to ebay tonight.

I'll, usually, give the thread an hour or so for any late action to be done via PM, but then after that the thread will be removed.

As Phil said. He's left the thread there for a time to seserve as a reminder that the practice is not permitted.

The thread will then be removed and everything will continue, hopefully, with people more aware of the rules.

If you'd like clarification as to why you can't list on both here and ebay, I would suggest emailing MikeH as he's the one that came up with the rules.
