Luckily I was invited to take part in the alpha trial for Battlefield 3 and been playing this for the last week and its awesome

I can't wait for the full version and have it on pre-order although I may need to upgrade my former beast of a pc nearer the time

anyone else play shooters on the PC (apart from scienceboy )

nah it's all xbox for me and almost exclusively COD. I grew up playing doom and quake on the pc though.

Lucky guy, how did you get on the trial?

I've played cod for years, tried bf2 and enjoyed the planes etc but some of the gameplay left me getting shot by guys I'd just emptied a clip into
Bad company took over for awhile then black ops but I am really looking forward to bf3 did you take any vids of the mp aspect?

There's only one format for FPS and that's a PC
No idea how console jockeys think their having a good time, it just doesn't compare.

Wish I could play on my pc as mouse and keyboard is by far the best control system. Cannot afford to keep a pc up to date enough to run anything decent. All I play on my pc is civ5 and an old copy of xcom terror from the deep.

got an email inviting me to the alpha and have to say its bloody good, a couple of niggles but then it is in alpha. Graphics are v good and gameplay is excellent.

totally agree with regards kb and mouse, I just cannot play any fps with a pad!!!

My pc is just starting to show its age, intel quad core q6600, 4gb ram, ati 4890 1gb, windows 7 ultimate 64bit and runs it sweet but like you say GB72 its not cheap keeping them upto date and I will probably try to update mine early next year.

I was a 3 star general with BF2 , I absolutely loved that game. Was in a clan and we played loads of scrims against other clans. Whoring the choppers and seat hopping or just bombing the heck out of the grunts. I did a lot of knife only servers too and that was truly brilliant. Havnt played it for about 2 years now though.

Same here, played it for a couple of years and loved it, especially the helicopters.
Might buy a new video card and have another crack at it

I'm drooling again, the old joystick (no not my man member) is past it now, maybe worth getting something new in preparation for BF3, what to get?

well judging by the alpha so far its a mix of bf and bc2 gameplay wise. once the full version is out with the like of Karkand etc and jets its going to rock

one good thing is prone is also back in

the spotting is annoying as its too easy to get spotted when hiding. The gameplay is awesome tho, the weapons are great and the sound is also immense

get a new gcard brendy, the prices have dropped massively now so should get a nice boost for not a lot, ram is also rock bottom, am going to bung another 4gb in this and probs get an ATI 6850 or similar
