The reason most of my gear is relatively new is I haven't been playing the game long so even my oldest clubs were in the first few categories. I am also in the process (although nearing completion) of replacing all the gear I bought 'on the cheap, with more suited, custom fitted clubs :D I just have my driver, wedges and hybrid to replace when money allows which doesn't look like it will be in the near future.

I hadnt played for a few years and the stuff i had was a few years old when i packed up so i htought i'd better catch up with the technology out there so i didnt need to change again for a while.

When I think my current driver isn't any good, I simply ask my son to give it a try. He promptly hits it 320 yards straight up the middle and I immediately know that it's me and not the club, but having said that, the club may not be suitable for my type of swing or swing speed. It's really worth going to a professional golfer to get a club, or set of clubs, tailored to your particular posture, set-up, age and swing.

I am in the same boat as jammydodger, i was away from the game for a long period, now I'm back and I'm trying to catch up with club technology.
