Some of you will know that I just havent got on with my Custom fitted 909D2, and have battled a huge slice/fade with it, so much so that I actually went for a lesson last friday to try and find out what may be the problem.

Then I used a friends 905R to massive effect, so much so that I have bought one already on Ebay, same spec, same loft etc etc.

So while I find a better home for the 909, and wait for the 905R to arrive, I take my old G5 out tonight, and find that it also still performs massively !!

I sooooooo wanted to love that 909. tis a thing of beauty to behold, but despite the Custom Fitting, my results have been shocking with it.
Maybe its in my head now, i dunno, maybe its the shaft, but all I know is the Club I want to hit well, I cant.

Just goes to show eh ?

The G5 is such a good driver, if I ever moved away from Titleist i'd go for that. Shame you didnt get on with the 909, good looking club, but you can't go wrong with a 905. What's the shaft on the 905 Chris?

Its the ProForce V2 76g, same as the one I borrowed to try out.

Looking forward to getting it, and getting back to Driving like I know I can.

909 = crap club.

I should have gone Ping Rapture V2 and probably will do at the end of the season or sooner if I can pick up a couple of SGU vouchers.

At the moment I am happy enough with my current driver but I was another who went Titleist custom fit only to ditch it 4 or 5 rounds later. Would not recommend it to anyone.

So while I find a better home for the 909,

Can you not just give it back to Titleist, or donate it to the golf foundation? After all it doesn't owe you anything, as it was free.

I'll swap it for a very good condition Benny, 10.5 degree fitted with Prolaunch red shaft!! If you don't get on with that, it's your swing not the club.... ;) ;) ;) ;)

909 a crap club, yeah right. If you can't hit it Craw, it must be crap. Obviously Rory Mac went to Titleist and said, make me a crap driver guys, my old one is way too long and straight, and they said, boy have we got the tool for you, take this one, it's totally crap.

In all fairness the Tour players could take a Dunlop Max and still cream it 300 yards straight as an arrow!!! I do take your point on the 909.

Craw have you thought about seniors offset flex? ;)

The 909 certainly isnt a 'crap' club, that is totally unjustified, but my experience has shown me that it is perhaps crucial to get the right shaft on it, and that is clearly something that I havent managed to do.

Perhaps that is because I was'nt swinging with my normal mid-season tempo/swing on the day of the fitting, which was on a cold day in late January.
Perhaps the shaft on that kind of day performed differently than it is doing now, which seems conceivable, but I arent sure.

I just think in hindsight, a Custom Fit session in mid season is the best thing to do, when you can be confident that your swing is as 'normal' as its going to be, and you arent perhaps hindered by
1. Too many clothes......
2. Cold temperatures.....affecting you and any Shafts.....
3. Inconsistent mid winter swing.....

I certainly wouldn't want a fitting session in winer. My swing in a jacket is terrible. This may go some way to explaining how it all went so wrong.

An update: Previous to posting about my problems with my D2, I had emailed Paul at the Titleist Fitting Centre at Brampton, who had been my fitter on the day, and explained my problems.
This morning, he very kindly called me, and we discussed things.
I happily admitted that it was very possibly down to my swing on the day, a cold day, in the middle of a winter when my golf wasn't too regular, and he agreed that may have contributed.
Obviously he fitted me with what he saw on the day, and what we thought was the best result on the day.

However, he was perfectly happy for me to return down to Brampton, very soon, and now that my swing is a little more consistent (hopefully), we could look at other options and do a complete refit, down to changing the Shaft and also possibly changing to the D3 perhaps instead, which is more like the 905R that I have tried recently with great results.

How can I say no ? Very very good of them, and needless to say, an offer I am taking up.

I'll re-post as soon as it has taken place, and can assess what solution we hopefully find.

I have the 907 D1 & I've never had any excessive fading problems with that. Infact I tend to draw it more than anything.

Perhaps you could try one of those instead of the 909.

That said I was more than impressed with the 909 D2 I tried a couple of months back. Unfortunatly I cannot afford one... But don't need it anyway, as the 907D1 works well enough for my liking, its only vanity that would move me over to the 909

lol honestly go on EBay and search Benny driver and completed listings they have been going for between £25-35 secondhand and new. Though if I was you I would keep it as its not worth selling, just want to try one again myself.
