Just really a rant here - my clubs continually seem to get left behind and misplaced on flights and it's driving me nuts.

British Airways surprisingly enough have been the worst offenders and their custoemr service is appalling.

Has anyone had any similar problems of got any advice for me next time? Help, please

Have you ever hired clubs on your trips? Cheaper than taking them and the standard at most good golf resorts is excellent nowadays.

I hired in South Africa because it was gonna cost me £400 to take my own. They gave me excellent Callaway cavity back irons which I actually preferred to my own Mizuno MP-30's and a driver to match my swing speed etc. 3 rounds cost about £60. Just as enjoyable after I spent the £300 plus which I saved on cocktails !

I always take my own clubs, as I hate hired / borrowed kit. It is hard enough playing with your own equipment, which has taken years to choose. Also, what happens if you prefer the strike with the hire clubs? Might be upsetting if you play better with nasty game improvement kit.

I always fly BA, because they take your clubs for free. So far they have never lost them, but they did fly my mountain bike to Sydney, when I was going to Aukland. Same hemisphere I suppose.

Flying to Murtle Beach in November with US Airways they allow Bag, 14 Clubs, 20 balls and a Pair of shoes for free, so did Virgin and Delta when I was checking up on flights. I hope they look after them I would hate to get there and not have my clubs. Coming back not so bad insurance claim for new stuff.

I hate playing with hire clubs - I like my odd assortment of rescue woods and wedges etc. I've flown with them about a dozen times and though it is a pain lugging them across the airport I've never had a problem although did get charged excess baggage on return journey with Ryan air. TAP and Emirates also fly clubs for free!

So if the Dutch claim to have invented the game...why did KLM quote me £400 to fly mine to South Africa? I did miss my recovery wood and lob wedge though!
