Off to florida in april for a few weeks, it would be rude not to take the clubs with me..The mrs has booked the villa so imagine my suprise when I found out the golf course is 2 mins from the front door. Its a course called Highland reserve.Has anybody stayed or played there. any info would be welcome

I've played Highland Reserve a couple of times always in February. A fair test of golf, but not the best course in the area. A word of warning, the coffee and food in the clubhouse is probably the worst I have ever tasted.

It's a resort course and is wide open. Your not a million miles away from Southern Dunes which is worth a visit or a trip up to Orange County National or my own favourite which is Grand Cypress

Thanks for the warning . I'll give the food and drink a miss then.:-) can't believe how cheap the golf is there for $30 you get a round, club hire, a buggy and a drink after I'll give it a try anyway it's right on the door step

I played highlands reserve a few years ago. 6 hrs for a round. Forget it. If you are playing Wednesday morning or Saturday morning go to polo park east 5 mins away. They have a Texas scramble on and it's a right laugh with the locals. It's 8am start. Don't go to Swiss fairways either as that's another 6 hr round. Kings ridge is ok as is palisades up by clermont.

Grand Cypress is superb, you have the new course as well as 3 different 9s which they rotate depending on the day, all 3 are in super nick and a great test of golf.

Orange County National is well worth a visit and I have been told good things about the course at the Waldorf Astoria although havent played there

If you ask around the golf shops they usually have vouchers for some good deals for playing, for instance last year we got Grand Cypress and club hire and buggy for $59 which is unbeatable value

Have you played Falcons fire as my mate said it was good and he got a bargain on it. When I was there last they wanted a fortune to play it.

I havent played Falcons Fire but I have heard its a decent track and bargains can be got for most places if you keep an eye out and ask around

Use this site as well http://www.golfnow.com/orlando

They do come up occasionally with a cracking deal but always have decent offers especially if you willing to play at lunchtime or so when its at its hottest

Ive played it a few times, its a decent track and is getting better now Marriott own it. It's sister course Metro West is very good too.

I got an email a few weeks ago offering golf plus a lunch for $35 for Metro West which I've taken up for my trip in September but there are always deals on via Golf Now.

If you go in the height of summer it's pretty cheap as that's generally the off season out there
