Flippin' 'eck.....Monster Alligator!!!!

Wow ... I mean, I love nature and wildlife on the course and all that, but that guy is a bit too much nature for my taste. I really can't imagine playing on a course where something like that strolls around. Seriously. Don't give me that "he won't bother them as long as they don't bother him" crap. Who is to know if what I am doing is bothering him? And what happens when he starts to feel peckish? No, thanks.

Alligators don't actually prey on humans do they? I think fatalities involving alligators only arise due to stupidity on the part of humans. There are only something like 16 deaths attributable to alligators in the US in the last 60 odd years.

Also, they're not an issue at any of the resort type places in Florida as as soon as they are spotted they are moved.

Nile crocdiles on the other hand kill a lot of people, but not in the places you might typically be playing golf!

i'm playing in Orlando come August/September.

Remind me on, not to go near the water!
I played several courses around Orlando about 18 months ago. We saw plenty of terrapins but only one alligator - my ball ended up at the edge of a pond and there was a small gator there. I'd guess it was about 4 feet long, seemed very docile and appeared not to be a danger. Certainly didn't put me off retrieving the ball.

My wife & I were quite delighted to see it - small enough to be almost cute. But then, perhaps we aren't sensible about dangerous wild animals - we once spotted a bear in Yosemite and tried to follow it (at a distance) as it walked away. Stupid, or what?

My lad showed me this about an hour ago. Played at iberostar cancun, beautiful course on my fiftieth birthday. It was the first time I had played after my "Rory" ankle operation. Driving down the 2nd there was a gator or croc the same size on the left hand side of the fairway near the lagoon. It just looked like a massive prehistoric killing machine.
I fell out with Missis T because she stopped the buggy ( she was driving) on the path about 10 ft away from an 8ft croc.
We had a fantastic holiday and I kept on googling cancun iberostar. Some months after we had come home a croc grabbed an American tourist and took off half of his fingers and hand. His mate smacked the Croc over the head with a rock and it let go. The Yanks had to pay for surgery with there credit cards as they had no holiday insurance. They said they were going to hammer the hotel as they said there was no signs up warning or crocs. Really. Anyway a few weeks later the hotel chain showed footage of the pair of thickos getting chicken drumsticks at the breakfast bar with the intentions of feeding the crocs. Something they had already been caught doing and warned about not doing. hotel told them to do one.

Just had a quick look and the attack story is still on the internet but so is a story where a Scotish guy is attacked on Thame course.

Gators normally get removed from the golf resorts when they reach 8 foot odd, and get relocated to the everglades. 8 footers can be dangerous, but only if you get too close. They are fast as, but only over about 5 yards. After that, they are pretty much blown. I love seeing them when I play in florida, it's part of the experience.

This boy is a biggie, but, probably pretty harmless.

Nike crocs on the other hand, dangerous as.

Nike crocs that must be coz they go swoosh :whoo:

must be the trainers they wear, but lord knows how they get measured up.

Don't know about anyone else but the Canada Geese at our place get pretty intimidating when their chicks start hatching....

Almost had to briskly walk away from them the other day

I would not get anywhere near that thing. They're as close as we have to dinosaurs, they're so creepy. I find them fascinating, but would not get anywhere near one of those monsters.
