Anyone use one?

Course beside me started it a few years back costing 199 including a GUI levy (not sure what it's called in England etc )

Works out I get 25 rounds in the price after 5 mid week

I currently work 8-5 Monday to Friday so be perfect for me I feel.

However I do like my sat golf and I don't think flexi memebership is for a sat golfer. The points system it runs out you have them burned in 4/5weeks lol.

So I was thinking of taking out a associate membership in my current club mainly for weekend golf every sat and odd Sunday.

The total for both is 614

Were as if I stay at my old club only play sat and odd Sunday due to work and travel time to the course

And for the record full membership there is 597.

Seems like a no brainier but does anyone that have a flexi membership do something like that?

Can it be done as effectively the flexi memebership is like a associate member ship as you pay with points every time you play were a full member wouldn't

Yes, currently on a flexi membership at my current club.
But more like pay as you play, as opposed to your points based system.

£150 upfront, includes Union fees etc
Then
£10 per round
£5 for 9 holes
April - end October
Then
£7 per round winter
But been getting charged £5 per round for months now

Same access to booking online as a full member
Able to have a handicap and play in club comps

Full membership approx £660

So, unless I play more than 50 rounds in a year, I'm ahead

But I've joined this way as the last 2 years at my last club, I only played 12-15 rounds per year, mainly due to injury, but injury then causing lack of interest, so joined on flexi deal to see if playing enough to warrant full membership.

Based on last years outings..........No

Definitely aiming to play more this year though
( aren't we richy)

Sounds like a no brainier for the sake of £17 extra for the year what have you got to lose at least trying it for one year and if it doesn't work out you've lost nothing.

Which two courses are we talking about?

I do the lowest flexi membership at my club. £400. means I can play in all competitions, 7 days a week, roll ups etc. I just can't win the major club championships which is no loss.

I probably get 8-12 rounds in on this, which is fine for me as have a young family and moody wife! I can also buy extra credits if needed at £175.

I really try and focus my golf on my monthly league, which plays on a Friday though at different courses throughout the South and Kent. Order of merit points and a grand final this year at the London club. I use my playing time at my home course for practise and preparation really.

So whilst I would like to play more golf - family, wife and wallet stop me. But it gives me the chance to practise and play competitively for my monthly league. This flexi is perfect for me at the moment.

Newton Stewart and city of derry

Bob (palindromicbob) is on the flexi scheme at CoD, suits him perfectly for how he plays his golf through the year and saves him a lot of money on his previous full membership at his old club.

CoD is very wet in winter and always has at least 3 holes closed during winter so if your going to be playing during winter bear that in mind and if only thinking about summer golf doesn't it still leave you plenty time to get to NS to fit in a round after work and still catch plenty of light meaning you can retain your full membership status there?

I'm looking at doing a flexi scheme this year, points in exchange for rounds as you describe. I think it will suit me as I am not a competition monster and so will not play often during the peak times. I may do 4-5 at most. I think the first year will be a suck it and see job. Worst case you need to buy a few extra points and if it matches the full membership level then you know for next time.

I don't think it works if you want to play Saturday / Sunday mornings all the time but if that doesn't fit your profile you should be okay (that's what I am telling myself :D)

good afternoon gents (and ladies) I'm just starting out and have been looking around at the varying membership costs of local clubs recently and am too thinking about starting out with a flexible membership. My local club offers cheap rates for sat/sun after 3pm. From people's experience are they many games normally available at this late a tee time as being new I will need a few games and comps etc to gain my handicap (or I think that's right but please correct me)

Thanks.

Wouldn't play cod in winter am looking at 25 rounds after Mon-fri that's what I get for my 200 there. So be using that April till September/Oct.

Also the course is closer to my house for after work golf. That and the fact I play any night bar Tuesday (lady's ) is a plus NS Tue out as mixed doubles is on Wed night's no good with wife heading out Thursday night lady's so only leaves Mon and Fri which not great as I be out weekend anyways.

Also its only 14 more for the two courses. I have guys to play with mid week in cod and ns but only ns on a weekend.

@sidsid you will need to enter 3cards for a hc, if coming from another club like myself you will get your hc certificate to transfer everything over

@ross yeah this one is a 7 day a week one and covers you to play in all Como's also you can play for the club in cup games etc that wouldn't effect your points

Here's the link to the deal for anyone interested in how a flexi deal works https://www.cityofderrygolfclub.com/flexi-play.html

I love the Flexi at CoD. Only played 3 or 4 rounds last year but the savings I achieve playing other courses through opens saved me money. 2 rounds at RCD for £120 thanks to being a member in Ulster were worth it alone. Add in the fact I play in a society that tries to schedule based on Saturday opens I usually save £5-£10 a round compared to those without a GUI membership. My previous membership was £660 and £460 savings pays for a lot of opens. In fact I did play a few opens in Omagh when I hadn't plans for else where. Hope to get a round in before membership due again and now I'm working in the big smoke I might get a few evening rounds in here and there.

Unless you are planning a lot of golf at Newtown I wouldn't bother with that membership. Most of the Saturday comps are opens in my experience and the CoD membership would allow you access to them with reduced green fees. I played a few last year when I didn't have a game planned else where and the £400ish saved would allow you to play a wider range of other courses anyway.

30 euro reciprocal rate for Ballyliffin as well if you fancy it plus Saturday opens for 30-40 euro most of the year. North West, Foyle, Strabane as well are all places with regular opens to name but a few.

I'm telling you the life of a nomad is good in this wee country :D.
