Hi all,
this is my first post here after reading and learning a lot. The reason is that this seems to be the only place where there is a substantial number of both orka and mizuno owners.

i have done a fitting last week, and the two contenders that are left are Orka RS3 and Mizuno MP-64. I am completely torn between them, as

- I find the mizunos sexier, although I understand from my fitter that he orders them assembled (excluding grip) from mizuno and in his experience, it does happen that the assembly process is not flawless. This is confirmed elsewhere on the web, where mizuno custom users complain that they got badly assembled clubs (eg wrong swing weights, rotated grips etc). Nonetheless it seems that all mp64 players are very happy campers!

- the orka rs3 felt buttersoft and will be assembled by the fitter himself, so guaranteed no flaws there. It's of course lesser known and opinions seem to vary more but are overall positive...

Prices that I was offered are similar, and I intend to play them for years, so resale value is not a concern.

How can I get to a decision?? Help appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!

If resale isn't an issue I'd go for the Orka's after seeing them recently and trying it

Only you can decide. Have the RS3s in the longer irons in the bag and love them to bits and couldnt recommend them enough. If you need to increase the sexiness get a split set with the RS1s ;)

I would not choose based on a belief, which is almost certainly false, that Mizuno QC is poor compared to that of the fitter. I know the guy who is the head of fitting for Mizuno UK and he would strongly disagree.

I think the fitter is leading you to his preferred choice by putting the wind up you.

The choice should be down to which club you liked better and performed best.

Orkas fitting , after sale and customer service is second to none

I'm not a massive fan of the clubs themselves but heard nothing but good things

Mizunos I have never taken a liking too and can never see why some rave about them

Did you try all the other makes ? What sort of irons were you looking for ? What do you currently use and also handicap/stage of game

Is, of course, the correct answer....!
actually it's one answer

is a more balanced and sensible answer

Not sure who the OPs fitter is but I'd go along with Ethan's suggestion. I've had several fittings over the years for different manufacturers and have had serveral of Mizunos offerings in there. I currently have 64s and find them ideal.
Do a search of Mark Crossfields videos on YouTube and you'll see the mizuno factory production line. Well worth a look.

With regards to the mizuno assembly, after my fitter mentioned that he has had problems in the recent past, I did a google search:

that shows the Scottish plant has extremely high tolerances and some had some angles that were off in America?

I think you'll find that there are similar stories about every manufacturer.

"Sounds like you've already made up your mind"

Not at all.... I like the Orka's, perhaps they played bit softer than the mizunos, and the 'custom' element gives me confidence that I will get what I pay for.

However, I like the appearance of the mizunos a lot more, in fact have wanted to play some mizuno blade-like (yes, I know they they are CB's) irons for a while but never thought I could hit them until I tried them at the fitting with success. Perhaps they are not quite as soft as the Orka's though. In any case, with the race this close, issues with the assembly process could well make the difference.

i also tried Miuras and Bridgestone at the fitting, but these were not for me.

Hi studiostevus,

Firstly welcome to the forum,
I have had just about every iron you can think of over the years, off the shelf and also customised. I had a Mizuno custom fitting at their HQ a few years ago and it was good, however, I have never had a fitting as thorough and as complete as the one I had with Alex from ORKA.
I currently have a set of RS3's and they are superb. Ive also just bought a set of customised RS5's which I'm picking up over the weekend.....the heads arrived in the UK Monday and Alex assembled them yesterday. Service is second to none....you won't be disappointed if you go down that route.

Hi and welcome, I had the same decision between mizuno , orka and muira at the start of the season, results were pretty similar as I hit them without really knowing what I had in my hand, in the end after all the technology had been done it came down to a basic caveman decision, muira ruled themselves out through price, then I liked the look go the mizuno better, so I bought mp64's.
Personally I wouldn't take much heed of the horror stories about club assemblies and the likes, somebody somewhere has a horror story about every manufacturer. Same as cars/watches/insurance companies etc.
