In past I've pretty much always missed the depths of a northern winter, basically not really starting to play till mid/late Feb early Match. I started early Feb this year, and have played 4 rounds. Typically, I'm posting 12 good holes and 6 absolutely dire holes. 4 rounds, 13 birdies, the last two rounds seeing 4 in each. But when you drill down into how each round has been put together you can see that I'm on or about under par after 10/12 holes but walking off having played to handicap, 6 over.

Today's comp saw a Stableford score of 36 points, which might not seem too bad, but included 5 X 1 ptrs and a blob. Last week saw a similar score, with 4 X 1 ptrs and a blob. And in both cases the "half time score" suggested a cracking score was in the offing.

Last year, work saw lots of hotel stays and little golf played, along with an extra stone around the waist.

As much as I've never bothered with fitness before, its beginning to look like I need to work on maintaining my natural athleticism and cat like reactions.;)

It takes time to get back into it properly and it's still not ideal golfing weather which can help make the mind wander. It's only a long walk so not strenuous exercise and plenty of good tour pros with extra timber in the waistline department. I find I lose concentration if I get thirsty or hungry and maybe a few snacks and drinks may help. Sounds from the scores you're definitely on the right lines for a decent season. Just stop the mistakes and play for 18 holes!

Couple weeks ago I was the same

Couldnt put two good 9's together - getting 36 points but 22 on front then 14 on back or vice versa for example

Just kept plugging away and you get into the groove of full 18 holes together

It will come - just needs a bit of time to let yourself get back into your golf groove
