First winter knockout mission complete

Well me and homer had our first outing as the winter knockout dream team and came up trumps with our first victory after a dramatic battle. This is my first ever time playing matchplay and wowsers what a buzz. It was neck and neck all he way round. Not at any point did we lead the match we only went 1 down a few times to only claw it back level. We was going down the 18th 1 down after the other guys won the 17th after a great nerve racking downhill 4-5ft putt by our opponent which was a bottom twitcher. Homer hit a spanking tee shot nice high draw off the out of bounds woods just short of the ditch leaving the shortest route to the green and I was way back on the left side of the fairway with one of our opponents out of the hole already and the other guy in the middle. Blah blah blah up to the green and we won the hole with a SIX yes a SIX (never give up) to take it to a play off hole. Both of us hit poor tee shots if I do say so myself with the other guy pin high right just off the green. He thinned his chip across the green and blah blah blah back on and missed the putt for a 4 and that left the hero of the hour HOMER with a putt to win the game. A short little putt about 4ft I'd say, nerves of steel BOOOOOM right in the middle. Woooo hoooo. What an introduction to matchplay...........intennnnnnseee. Roll on next round, hopefully I will play a bit better next time and help out a lot more. Everyone played great though too so it was really enjoyable for everyone.

Great spinning chip and run of a muddy lie for a half at 6 at the right time to keep momentum, a sand save of Seve proportions at 15th for a massive half. We've got two single figure guys in the next round. I'm happy that I'm hitting it well and we were both under handicap yesterday so had to play well to get the win and hope my good form continues. Glad you enjoyed the buzz. Hopefully we won't make it so nervy next time. Don't underestimate your own contribution. This guy has a short game that belies his handicap. Great spinning chip and run of a muddy lie for a half at 6 at the right time to keep momentum, a sand save of Seve proportions at 15th for a massive half. We've got two single figure guys in the next round. I'm happy that I'm hitting it well and we were both under handicap yesterday so had to play well to get the win and hope my good form continues. You fancy a game Tuesday matey?
