Entered the club singles matchplay for the first time this year and just completed my first match this evening.

What a thriller, I never knew golf could be so exciting. :)

There was never more than a hole in it and we both played good golf. I was one down on the 18th tee, won that and then managed to win the first extra hole, I'm exhausted!

Well done Crow , its a terrific format for playing golf and you'll enjoy many titanic battles and a few monster drubbings over the years. Enjoy the ride

Well done Crow

Great format, played in 5 winter and summer comps now and have only won two matches but what great fun. Had a couple of drubbings 5&4 and 4&3. Was 4 down in the winter comp after 11 holes and ended up beaten by 1 hole on the 18th but have enjoyed the experience and the day

Done better in the pairs comps with a couple of quarter finals, but overall I think it is my favourite format.

Good luck in the next round.

Well done Crow, i love matchplay as it doesn't take a lot to win or lose.

good luck in the next round

Well done Crow .. great form of golf coz it 1 V 1... youl learn the tricks as you go along . & as the lads say youl get a couple of drubbings along the way but youl win ones you shouldnt have aswell , good luck

Matchplay is epic. Play against my mate who is a +2 golfer. I get a couple of shots off him and we go to battle big time!

I lvoe the fact that matchplay scores can be tallied up and they will come in way over a players handicap but they can still win the match.

Its all about the hole and not the score!

Ash!!

Thanks guys.
I like the fact that every shot is crucial while the hole is still live but once the hole is over it doesn't matter and you move on to a new hole. The pressure seems so much higher than strokeplay on certain shots, especially when you're getting down to the crunch!

I can't wait for the next round, and luckily I should have a couple of weeks to recover. :)
