I decided to take trip and try out the RBZ and R11s. Very interesting trip, was not too keen on the RBZ so I had a smack with the R11s. Oh my god I have never been able to hit a driver as straight as when this got set up. Not too sure on distance as it was with range balls, but even for them it was going very long.

Chatted with the lad about it and he suggested I get booked in for a fitting on the launch monitor to get it set up correctly. He did let me hit a couple of shots to show me what it can do as I have never tried one before.

Well that was surprising when I saw the readout after hitting 3 balls. Clubhead 128 MPH, ball speed 168, RPM 3350, degree launch 15.5, carry 263, total distance 274. So I managed to get the smash factor of 1.3. He did say that my launch was too high and by taking that down he could reduce the RPM which would create a higher ball speed. He thinks with some minor adjustments on the head he will be able to increase the ball speed and get me around another 20 yards.

That was only hitting 3 balls to show what the machine can help me do if I get this driver set up using it. I really can't wait to go back and get it done.

Saw the RBZ's in the flesh today and they look good. Saw the R11S too but no driver is worth £300+ so that can wait a bit. No point trying it in case I fall in love. I'll give the RBZ 3 and 5 a bash once we lose the snow

Was not that keen on the RBZ to be honest. My plan was to go and fall in love with them today but the shaft just feels a bit soft for. Was not very keen on the sound or the feel in general. But if you do not think any driver is worth that, then please do not hit it. I think it is the nicest feeling driver I have ever hit. Nice to see TM are using an Aldila RIP shaft in it also. I did try out the new Cobra driver aswell as a couple of others. That Cobra driver is pretty damn nice too

He never quoted Swing Speed........Just Clubhead Speed and Ball speed

Clubhead speed is swing speed.

I think he needs to check his equipment or adjust it back to normal. A carry of 263 would be very poor for a club head speed of 128. You should carry it over 300 yards at that speed, if that is your proper speed (which I rather doubt it is).

Dont ask me it is the first time I have ever been on one of these things. If you check out he other stats you will see that the RPM and launch angle are poor so I am loosing a lot of distance, hence the lack of distance.

on the flip side the smash factor of 1.3 with a driver is very low, i would have thought that would reflect a cutting across type swing, hitting the ball with a glancing blow.

operator error perhaps

that swing speed/clubhead speed is definately wrong.

if i were getting only 168mph ball speed and 270+ yrds with that i'd be annoyed...........

128mph will get you closer to 180+ ball speed and well over 300 yrds, that swing speed is more than what bubba, woodland and quiros average.

I was going to say the smash factor was very low, should be around 1.48-1.49 really.
Wait until the day you get more time madadey, you will be able to ask more questions and get a better average of speeds etc.
I found the RBZ a nice enough driver but not very different to my Superfast 2.0, the R11s was a different best altogether, the extral adjustments and shaft options at that time made fine tuning a joy and the results were noticeable each change.

Just a quick one to the people mentioning about hte distance in relation to the swing speed. If you read what I wrote in the OP then you would see that my launch angle and RPM was too high. That is what is giving me the lack of distance. But a few alterations to the head setup it should sort it all out.

Fast swing with no timming not good either , book a trackman session with launch monitor and also the k vest , what is that i hear you ask , google it and see

These stats are massive. A club speed of 128 is mental, up there with the top tour distance hitters, moving into long driver comp territory! If this speed is right...and with a smash factor of 1.5, you could and should be looking at 340...hmmm. Fair play if so.

At the end of the day its about relative figures and not absolute. Compare what you are using now against what you like using the same launch settings, etc.

Operator error? Bad timing? No nothing to do with that. The ball was going as I wanted it with a very slight draw. If you read my OP I tell you there what was the problem. I was launching it far too high, about 4 degrees too much launch angle. So yes the distance is not good compared to the swing speed, but I am just firing it straight up in the air not forward. The face was 0.5 degree open at impact. So no problem there really. That was only over 3 balls as he was showing me what this machine can do for me regarding getting a driver set up correctly. I did hit about 30 balls on the range to see how it feels though and it goes seriously long and straight.

I must say this new design does help generate extra clubhead speed as it just felt effortless. Checked out a distance calculator and it says with my swing speed I should be getting 320 yards......bloody hope so, but not holding out any hope.

Thanks for the good feedback from people...to the others I really can't be bothered to get into an argument about this. They are the facts from the machine so that si what you have to go with......

Sorry if you think I was having a go, but I have heard plenty of stories of people being told tall tales in certain stores. I myself was once told that my 100mph drive was carrying the ball 270 yards with a driver I was considering buying, and it was only when I queried it that the guy admitted the launch monitor had been turned up to 11.

Anyway, if your smash factor is as described, then there is something missing. The club head speed is not translating into enough ball speed, regardless of angle of launch, so that is something you need to look at. A pro used to working with long ball hitters is probably best.

No I did not consider you to be having a go Ethan, you better not have been..... ;)

No I put this up here as it is the first time I have had my swing measured with a driver and was looking for good feedback from people who maybe have had more experience of this. It just makes me mad when people have nothing constructive to say apart from basically calling you a liar, when they have never seen you hit a golf ball. Is it that hard to believe that someone can hit the ball that far that is not a tour pro? After all not sure what you would call a big hitter with an iron but I hit a steady 9i 155 yards with ease........

My error........Humble Apologies  Caused by not reading Properly, and Half Dozen Tea Time Pints...

Ive always been told, ( with a decent Smash Figure ) that Carry is roughly 2.5 times Club Speed
So Clubhead speed 128 , shud be approx 320yards Carry.........!!!
They Look Very Much Like TOUR Stats.......or a Dodgy Machine..........??

Out of Interest MadAdey......what is your 'Normal' driving distance with your Current driver......??
