First round with new shinnies

So played my first round with the new Yonex clubs yesterday, got to say it was 3 degrees and boggy as anything,ball was going nowhere.
First impressions are the irons are very very nice, I was hitting them sweet as a nut, very straight high flight and buttery feeling. The hybrid has yet to convince me though, although when caught flush it's nice,it sits more in the mini wood like hybrid rather than the iron replacement, although the gapping is spot on, probably 15 yards behind the cleveland classic xl.
The one thing that did surprise me was the SW, I hit a few round the green with my ICY wedge and it was digging in and the ball was going nowhere,the Yonex SW was just gliding on the surface and nipping the ball off the sodden turf with a nice high flight,very good round the greens.
So more work with the hybrid required but loving the irons.
How did the two Dave's get on?

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get out on the course with mine. Was due to play Sunday but rain of biblical proportions put paid to that!! I have hit the range a couple of times and they feel very nice, but waiting for this weekend when I play Saturday before giving a real update of the clubs.

Glad they went well for you and looking forward to using mine properly.

Demonstrates perfectly why I leave my (Low Bounce) Lobber out of the bag for Winter!

Wide Sole of the Yonex prevents it digging in soggy turf, which are not the conditions the Icy was selected for - irrespective of whether it's High or Low Bounce!

Good to hear the the new sticks (shinnies sounds like something supplied by H4H ) are performing, if under 'interesting' conditions!

I've had almost two rounds with mine both on a very wet course with soft conditions. Friday saw me win the back 6 on the 15 hole lunch time swindle, where they pay front 9 back 6 due to the 15th being near the club house. Then on Saturday we played the club foursomes knockout cup and won on the 13th with 5 to go so all in all it was a good weekend with the new clubs.

First impressions are that the clubs are very forgiving with great feel which was something I did not expect with graphite shafts. Bump and runs with the PW was a doddle with most shots being within putting distance of the hole. The irons were also very accurate and gave a sense of confidence when standing over the ball, however I do need to work on distance control as I did over hit a few and under hit others however that was probably more to do with the wind and not striking the ball cleanly in the soft conditions.

Unlike Shewy I was very impressed with the hybrids, hitting most of the greens I miss. They are bullet straight and high launching matching the iron gapping perfectly. The only criticism I have of the hybrids is I don't like the graphics on the top as I find the double arrow alignment and the grey perimeter detract from what otherwise would be is a very attractive looking hybrid.

I can't comment on the sand wedge as I left it out of the bag as I am still waiting for the gap wedge to arrive.

The superlite 60g shafts gave plenty of feel and feed back and felt quite firm and more controlled when compared to one of my playing partners Wilson regular graphite shafts.

All in all I do not have any negative comments on the clubs other than the graphics on the crown of the hybrids, however their performance far outweighs my personal preferences.

I also have to say that I didn't really need any breaking in period with the irons as they felt fine from the first time I hit a ball with them, hence me putting them into play in a competition 24 hrs after using them for the 1st time.

It's too early for me to comment on distance gains because at the moment the cold and conditions are not ideal so that will have to wait a while but all in all I'm more than happy with their performance which I feel will only get better with more use.

I put some range work this afternoon and the hybrid is really growing on me, more the Indian than arrow but had a eureka moment with it and as you say super high and straight, sneaky long as well.
I'm still awaiting the gap wedge as well.

Good to hear that these are working for the guys. I hit some Yonex last week and I can see why you'd be happy. Not a brand I've ever rated but I was hasty in that opinion. I still think there are better out there but definitely worth a consideration if you are looking at new sticks for 2015

Well I had my first round with the new irons, hybrid and putter at the weekend.

I was playing at a course that I have only played +/- 5 times and managed to shoot 34 points. I couldn't fault the irons whatsoever. I only hit 1 really bad shot with them and that was topped, so purely my fault. They are much more forgiving and easy to 'get out there' than the mizunos I had before. Overall I am extremely pleased and can't wait to play them on my home course. DIdn't really use the hybrid other than once and again it seemed very easy to hit, much more so than my RBZ 3 hybrid.

Highlight of my round has to be the 9 iron from 140 yards that I stuck to 4 feet from the pin (missed the birdie putt :mmm: )

As for the putter, that is going to take some getting used to. Left a lot short, which I think is where I am used to the TM putter having an insert and the SC not, also wet greens didn't help. I 3 putted 4 times.

So all in all I am very happy, new irons, new putter and not my home course, to come in with 34 points and 4 three putts I feel as though my score could have been much better.

Thought I would give a quick update having played a few more rounds with these.

All I can say is wow. They have been fantastic, incredibly forgiving, long and so easy to hit.

The hybrid is now my go to club for anything around 190-200 yards and is so easy to launch.

I honestly couldn't be happier, thanks again to GM and Yonex for these fantastic irons.

Look forward to hearing how Dave B and Shewy are getting on with them.

Well I can say I've been stuck in Africa for the last two weeks so no update, Before I went I was loving the irons but the hybrid is still troubling me,I had one good moment at the range but went back to struggling again, I had a hit with the Ezone XP hybrid and that was lovely.
