For Xmas, the Mrs got me a new set of irons. Taylormade CB tour preferred.

Well today, is the the first day since xmas that the course has been open and Ive been off.

So today is the day I was hoping to put my new irons the bag, the only thing is, it's hoofing down outside.

Would you wait for better dryer weather before playing with clubs you haven't played before?

I haven't even used this set on the range yet, apart from when trying out a demo set.

As much as I'd like to play them, I just don't think today is the day :(

Man up and get out there, it's only a bit of rain

I'm playing, just not sure what clubs to take! And I guess that as I'm asking the question, that should be the tale tale signs that I don't really want to take the new clubs!

Looks like the taylormades will stay in the garage for another week, and the old benross clubs can have another round!

I'm in the market for new clubs, I won't pull the trigger until March. I can't see the point in getting them out yet, I might get them muddy :o

I would go down the range and get some feel for distances and striking first ... Then rain or shine I would go for a round !!

If it were me I would have a good few buckets of balls first.

It stopped raining about half hour before tee off so I swapped out some irons and kept some old ones in the bag, but I only played 9 and then it started hammering down again so came in.

They were nice to hit, and roughly the same distance as my current clubs, I topped one off the tee, but I absolutely hate the winter mats at my course as they have loads of little stones on them, I should have probably taken a old hybrid or something but wanted to try a 4 iron as I've never played with one before.

In these conditions you may well have used a thirty year old set of "pin seakers". If I were bought a brand new set of golf clubs for Xmas I would have probably been using them on December 27th at 7am in the morning whilst it was still dark, but I still believe in santa claus

They were new to me, but not brand new, they might aswell be. 1 year old, had iron covers the whole time!

Unfortunately I was working the 27th :(

Why do I do a job that requires stupid hours!

Personally I'd be going to the range and hitting the irons and getting use to them. I wouldn't be playing at all if the conditions were as bad as the OP stated (at least not for a roll up) but I would definitely be using the new clubs the next time I played

I don't really get much range time, hoping to get a set up in the garage in the near future, but I'm worried as won't be able to see any ball flight so could go anywhere after the first 10 feet!
