i had my first ever round on a proper 18 hole course today great fun but im knackered. i didnt realise it would take over 4 hours to complete. any way i scored 101 i know its crap, i just wondered what everyone else scored on their first ever round?

124 for me, i thought the highest score won.

I must say, I was born with no natural golfing ability what so ever.. however with a lot of hard work i'm getting there.

I had to play with a junior in his first ever medal round, as junior captain at the time I thought it would be good, give him some suppport etc. I know medals are a true test of golf but this kid had 204, I nearly died with the stress of it. So I would consider 101 bloody excellent :D

I think it was 146 so your score isn't bad at all! Oh how things have changed, I beat that score by 80 on the weekend. Just keep practicing and have lessons if you have the time and can afford them as they really pay off.

Welcome to the world of real golf. Trouble is now you've sampled a full length course and survived you'll be back for more and more. Actually 101 is a pretty good first effort and I guess 4 hours isn't too slow either. You'll get use to the exercise and distance walked the more you play.

101 is a darn good score for a first round. As well as this you now have a very realistic goal to aim at. Break 100 :)

I have no idea what I shot on my first round of golf. Something like a 120 but not sure as I didn't allow myself to count and get demoralised! But you've clearly done the sensible thing and let yourself get up to standard before letting loose on the course.

Heres to many more :D

101 is a good first round score, but sometimes it depends on the path you followed leading to that first round. Some people buy clubs, knock about on the park then go to a muni or join their first club and away they go.Some, like myself do an awful lot of practice on ranges, random holes, the odd 9 hole round then first step after membership is a round with a member giving advice along the way, so I had played a lot of golf before doing my first 18 holes.
101 is a good first round no matter what came before.

i had played alot of par 3 courses before yesterday. but now im itching to get out on the proper course again. i loved every minute of it although the old legs are feeling a bit tired today.

I'd be chuffed top bits with 101 on my first round. Scored 61 on my first real 9 this week. (I'm reliably informed the front 9 is harder - I think they were trying to console me) Have the bug now too, very much more looking forward to getting on the course again this week (I'll be drilling the swing in down the range too Mr. Pro., honest)

101 is good going for a virgin :D

I am fortunate, i have never shot over 100. I think my first round was 96ish.

I did play on a 9 holer for a few months first though going round at roughly 9 over.

Keep at it, the scores will tumble and the work load will drop!

Mine was a 97.

I bought my first set of clubs in January - a cheap and cheerful starter set from A/G. Had a few goes at the local driving range, took a beginners course, then plucked up the courage to go for it on a full 18 holer. That's it I'm adicted!

Already meeting lots of pleasant and very helpful people and reading all the reviews on the latest gear and wishing I had taken the plunge years ago!

Not sure what mine was but my dad reckoned he couldn't count any further and couldn't afford to keep me in golf balls either i was 12 at the time and had old of his cut down how things have changed my youngest son is 9 and saw a set of Pings for kids and says he wants them. :D :D
