Well went out and played in a comp at my course fo my first handicap card today. I was out with a older guy off 21 and another guy off 11.

The first tee i could hardly put my ball on the tee i was that nervous!

Didn't play the front 9 too bad, made some stupid misstakes and lost one ball but birdied a par3 and par4 and went round in 48.

Back 9 started ok, bogey, bogey, par, par and then it all went downhill. Had an 8 on the par5 when i was only about 20 yards off the green for 4. Then on the next hole a par4 i hit 2 tee shots oob, and ended up with an 11! Ended up playing the back 9 in 57 to go round in 105.

I was pretty happy cause i played pretty well, it was just some stupid mistakes that cost me some high scores.

Can't wait to get back out and put my next card in now, just a shame our course is [****] next sunday now cause there is a county match on.

I wouldn't worry too much. These things happen especially in a medal round. Not much you can do if you carve two OB other than try and refocus (and maybe look at a different club selection next time) but don't get too nervous next time. You know what to expect. Just try and enjoy it and let the score take care of itself

Yep the 11 comes down to a 6, the 8 to a 7 so that's a 99.
Any other triples? They come down to doubles too.
What's the SSS at your place

yeah if I adjust the other tripples down to doubles it gives me 94 on a par 71 with a SSS 71.

So am I right in saying the highest handicap I will get will be 23 if this is the best of my 3 cards?

Bozza for my 3 handicap games I was nervous as hell in both 1st 2 games (which were also work society competition games ) even more pressure..I only partially relaxed in my 3rd and final game

My scores were 103,104 & 105....but I must have had quite a few shots taken off for scores that were OVER double bogeys...to get a 26 handicap

Keep it up

Kev

23 eh Bozza, nice one ;)

just worked out my 103 from yesterday and it would be a net 99 removing triples which would be a hc of 28.... damn lol, just aswell it wasnt a hc card

just relax on the next round if poss and remember what you did wrong this time and play to your strengths

good luck for the next 2 :)

Cheers, i just hope my good form lasts for another 2 weeks when the next comp is.

Went out with a friend today and played the front 9 well, gross 44 with 21 points playing off a 23 handicap.

I made the mistake of adding my score up after the front 9 and realised how well it was going and knew with another decent back 9 i could break 90 for the first time and tried to chase a score.

Ended up with only 11 points on the back 9 but if it had been for a handicap card i would have scored 92 after adjusting anything triple bogey or worse down to double so i suppose it aint too bad.
